I've come back to this video because the quality is so good. This an excellent tutorial on how to build a high-quality plastic model ship and get a great looking model out of it. I like Heller kits, I've built several of them, they are fun and render good looking models. Everything about this build says "craftsmanship", I particularly enjoyed the shrouds and ratlines demonstration. Again, Thank You for such a great video...I admit I've copied several of your techniques and they worked for me (and I am not near the modeler).

Very nice mate. Good job. I ordered this model and a couple more from Heller, they should arrive later this month. I like the brown pre-shading on the sails, the way you set the deadeyes and flags blowing towards the front of the ship. (Not many people know to do that on a square rigged ship.) Movie models and special effects do it wrong a lot. Thank you for sharing.

I built this from May 2022 to Jan 2023. but I surmise the pure time was half of that. I deliberately built it slowly, but meticulously and elaborately step by step. Lovely work. I know how much time and effort you have to put in for this type of model. I'm only recently back into modelling and I'm just finishing the Revell 1/110 HMS Bounty. It's not perfect by any means but I'm pleased with it and learned a lot so my next effort should be better. I have in my stash the following - Heller 1/150 Le Glorieux, Heller 1/150 Amerigo Vespucci, Heller 1/200 L'indomptable and two Airfix 1/87 HMS Bounty's. These were a kind gift from a friend. Also from the Airfix Vintage Classics range the 1/130 Cutty Sark and the 1/180 HMS Victory. Not sure which one to tackle next. I will have a bit of a break from the dreaded rigging though and finish off one of my Tamiya tank dioramas and perhaps build one of my aircraft before taking a deep breath and launching, no pun intended, on another ship. Happy modelling my friend.

Great job! Only criticism I have is that the shrouds that form the ratlines would have been attached to the chainplates on the hull via deadeyes. I don't know whether Revell gave you the wrong instructions in this cae (which is more likely than not!).

Beautiful. You can be rightly proud of how she turned out. This should have had far more views and comments. I've recently taken more of an interest in modelling. I am at the age when I have more time on my hands! I was searching for the Revell kit of the Bounty as a first go at a sailing ship for many, many years so came across your build. In my search for a kit I am also considering the Revell 1/96 HMS Beagle (kit number 05458). Do you have any experience of this kit and do you think there would be any reason why one would be a better choice over the other. Best wishes from the UK. Oh, and I've subbed!

Thank you! I’m Kevin from South Korea. Frankly, I haven’t built a Revell Beagle kit yet, but it would be a great choice. In my experience, It seems to have a proper size, price, and moderate level of difficulty to build. In addition, It’s more attractive because of the ship on which Charles Darwin rode. These days I’m in the process of building a Heller kit, 1/200 Royal Louise. I think this kit is much harder to make than Revell kits. I hope you enjoy your happy free time!

Enjoyed watching both your videos and have built painted many Dragon figures and have plenty more in my stash. However since 2019 I only use resin heads - Hornet in particular - as they offer far greater detail and accuracy and overall satisfaction. German figures especially either the heads are too small and the helmet or field cap is too big and out of scale or vice versa. I have this set in my stash and a set of resin heads from Hornet just waiting for an idea to arrive in my head for a diorama. Thanks for sharing your work I enjoy watching your technique and the effort you put in shows .

Hello and thanks for the answer, in the visual effects applied to scale, in some cases such as the use of AMig paints, the color is already scaled, however other brands I do not know if they take that into account, hence my query, I will apply I have seen it in future projects, I must also say that I have seen a video of his authorship, of watercolor painting, coincidentally, I also paint without being a professional, however it has helped me a lot to understand its application in the use of watercolor, greetings
