I see this video is 2yrs old. Is it possible to use tilt function of the R12i yet? I don’t know why this is not an option?
@nb061615 күн бұрын
I don't think so. The reason is the same as why Trimble can't make a tilt prism (ie Leica AP20)... their total stations don't have a GNSS component. Leica has GNSS built into their handles. Not a major RTK unit, but something similar to the GPS in Trimble data collectors. It's a real bummer they can't add this. The AP20 virtually eliminates rod busts and the tilt function increases staking and topo productivity dramatically.

Why didn't you input target height on the paddles?
@TheBlueDreamTeam20 күн бұрын
The target height is required when you set the paddles above a ground mark. Since the surveyed "control points" were to the center of the targets themselves, this means the target height is Zero.

Little tip from SoCal : Do not use 5,000 5,000 for coordinates. Use 10,000 5,000 (or vice versa, depending your local normal practice). This way you can mentally keep track which is your nly & ely. Happy surveying!

That is an awesome tip! Thank you for sharing and I will definitely do that the next time it comes up.

As it seems you would need cellular coverage for the whole project, why could you not connect the R12 base to the internet via sim or hotspot and then send your corrections over an NTRIP server, and to the cell connected rover. I can see this as a useful unit to receive internet hosted RTK and rebroadcast over a UHF radio, as the website shows. Thanks

I have been wondering what polylines are. I am 41 and been surveying for a little over 2 years. No one that I work with uses these features. I know very basic linework for straight lines. Intervals, curves, sequence and all the other features that are too numerous to name here, remained somewhat enigmatic. I really want to learn more so I can be better and more valuable and ultimately make more money. I appreciate you keeping this video accessible in a way I can grasp. I found this video searching "cad tools on Trimble access" and "how to calc points on trimble access". This is the best video I found and now I can't wait to try to use poly lines in the field. I'm not sure when I would use them but I know understand how. Thank you and I look forward to seeing more content from this channel!

Just to recap: VD = SD x cos(ZA). Delta(VD) = VD at point of interest - VD at BM; delta(VD) can be positive or negative. Elevation of point of interest = BM Elevation + Delta(VD) + Target Height at BM - Target Height at point of interest If you keep the same height of target then: Elevation of point of interest = BM Elevation + Delta(VD)

12:45 Seems EVERY tutorial ALWAYS skips the most important detailed parts to leaves people guessing. I understand it's because these settings are because of user's different regions etc etc.... but these kind of settings need to be explained in deep detail to avoid catastrophes such as wrong building placement or elevation.

Thanks for the comment. Indeed, this is the wrong video if you're hoping to learn how to setup your job's coordinate system. You can find plenty other videos and help guide material for coordinate system configuration else where. This video focuses on IBSS, and therefore extra fluff outside of the topic is kept to a minimum. Sorry, but I've found people prefer to stay on topic rather than going down rabbit holes.

I know this is a bit of an old video, but since the R12i includes TIP and tilt compensation, is it possible to apply tilt compensation to shots taken with the total station while doing integrated surveying?
