Okay if patient is fit but the important thing I was waiting for was cleaning themself in that position taking away the bed protection would be problematic.

In video its made to look easy in reality its definitely not eldery patients either roll off as their uncomfortable or for get to ring the nurse call bell or the urine comes up between the legs all different size patients will use bed pan differently and most cannot wipe theirselves the most important point that was not raised is time i worked on a 30 bed ward and hadn't got the time to deliver this tenichniqe very busy and understaffed wards we'd get our patients to the toilet or commode if bedpan went wrong if would mean a hell of work for the patient clothes change and bed change.

Is there a bedpan on the market that has a padded top? My mom weight under 5stone and is immobile/bedridden. The normal slipper/fracture bedpans cause lesions on the end of her spine and are uncomfortable to sit on as they are too hard. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

No hand hygiene in between glove changes otherwise the skill procedure id topnotch. Denture brush is highly recommended

Before you touch the control bed and gives her paper toilet, wipes and the caller lights the CNA needs to remove the dirt gloves, because he use to put the chucks and the bed pan.

When the patient is done with bed pan and cleaning the perineal area, should he/she still get down on the pan before you come take it off?

Only rinsed the after used bedpan?. It should be disinfected as well.

In market chemical available for making matter odor less.. If we put that chemical in pan before putting pan downside of patient, that makes care taker work little easy..

What if the patient is not strong enough to lift his or her self up

I met an accident yesterday, and on bed rest for a month. Fractured my pelvis bone. I followed exactly the same, and now after seeing this video I am happy that I have basic sense....and thanks for the video, many people panic and not sure what needs to be done during such a situation.

The bedpan should be cleansed in the cr, not in the same faucet used for washing hands, brushing teeth, etc.😅
