I have hearing loss. The incidental grass sliver reminds me to go along with a tissue and see where it is sucked in. And... don't ever buy a kayak with a skeg - it adds to the weight of the kayak, robs the expeditioner of vital storage space - and packing time.
@bigpondkayaksАй бұрын
@@gardensofstone2905 what you could do is locate where you think the hole is, let the pressure equalise first time round, then do it again with tape over where you think the hole is and if it holds pressure you have found the hole, or a way of confirming you have fixed a hole that’s obviously damaged by using this technique, still handy if you can’t hear the hissing noise

@@bigpondkayaks What design is it? And how waterproof are the hatches?
@bigpondkayaks2 ай бұрын
@@justinprice7235 it’s not really a model as such just an early mannta sea kayak that I now make in composite, the rear hatch is a rubber on on a rim very water tight, the front is a cut section of the deck screwed down with thumb screws and it squashes onto some foam around the inside of the rim this is also water tight

@@bigpondkayaksThanks. So the first kayak you built was a prototype for your own design! Respect!
@bigpondkayaks2 ай бұрын
@@justinprice7235 yes in a way, but this one ended up more like the surge play i make, it sort of in between the mannta and the surge, I built 7 designs the mannta was the 7th the surge nailed it at an 8th no changes from the prototype
