A civilization this advanced, they can wage a war across a vast amount of space, but still don't use drone technology to fight the war.

Maybe there were laws against it akin to the geneva convention , think Gundam Wing or Bokurano , both highly advanced futuristic civilisations that ban the use of non manned war machinery in order to not desensitize the masses to war

What a great book series(minus the very end which I did not like and am still bummed by the meh ending). It's one of the series if not THE series that really got me into reading.

Best person in this world mastering a weapon vs the second best person and 10 thousand fights between the two or the ametuer from the slums let go to do as they want and told kill or be killed if you win wealth untold... Who has the better chance to win #2 or the ametuer... this is the anology of enders game..... btw there was no training really it was a deathmatch the whole time

The sad part is that they wipe out the entire sentient life form because of miscommunication... Those aliens just want to make friends when they approach Earth and never again once they realize the cultures are different and unable to communicate. They could've destroyed us if they wanted to.

They killed millions of humans in their first encounter with humanity , 9/11(an event that started massive military conflicts) a thousand times over , totally changing human culture , and you think they should be forgiven , and they didn t have the strenght to kill humanity , they couldn t even defend themselves

I don't know much about the story except the bits mentioned in the movie, never read the book, did i miss it, or did they explain how they went from fighting off an invasion with current Era jets to interstellar travel in just 50 years with tracking/data which allowed them to hunt the alien species across the galaxy?

In case you're wondering why kids. Kids aren't burdened by command. They don't know the losses are real. For them it's a game of winning by any tactic available.

One thing that has bugged me the lack of what are essentially flak ships. Vessels specifically designed to counter large numbers of smaller attack craft through sheer volume of fire or explosives/area of effect weapon systems

In the books by the final battle the rest of the gang knew that the fighters were not drones. Ender also sensed it through Mazor witj his empathy. There's a scene at the final battle where Bean whispers into his microphone for his ships not to launch fire the missles but to start the chain reaction from within then he tells them a prayer or something I forgot his exact words and the madlads flying the ships just did as they're ordered by some kid from the other side of the galaxy.

O my son Absalom,' Bean said softly, knowing for the first time the kind of anguish that could tear such words from a man’s mouth. 'my son, my son Absalom. Would God I could die for thee, O Absalom, my son. My sons!

the most unfilmable part is the children are all supposed to be superhuman child prodigies. they are supposed to be younger than this and total savants, some of them bred for this purpose. i knew a child genius who became a math prodigy; they are not like normal people. big ego, bit cracked, not conventionally social. an entire school of them would be quite a sight. these actors are too much like normal people

What's strange is that teamwork in the end battle was not that important. Creativity and total command to send millions to their death and genocide was.

This may be a bit far fetched, concerning my comment, but in any future combat, with a future possible hostile Alien spesis, this scene with huge screens and huge fleets and combat drones, set up like a pratice similator may be the future concept of combat.with crew thinking its all simulated. Not knowing its real combat.

Remember reading the books for the first time, years before the film. The way they pushed him, made the reader aware, that there was more at stake than just a game. And the timescales gave the reader clues to what was going on, so when the final battle starts, you know what is at stake. Not just the two side but what the realisation of reality will do to Ender. The finally still comes as a welcome surprise. They kept the film pretty close to o the books.

Bean whispering encouragement to the ships making their final sacrifices in the book's final battle was incredibly sad and also potent. Of course he knew what was actually happening.

A little detail i like in the film is during the final battle. Throughout the battle there are some quick shots edited in of other people issuing out the orders to the drones. Just a small thing but its nice to see. Like thats obviously not part of the simulation lol. Good stuff
