I don’t see everyone’s problem with them investing money into the worship team. Yea it’s a lot of money but I’d rather them spend money on something they love and it’s serving the Lord at the end of the day.

How do these guys get paid? I mean, those rigs cost a lot. Don’t get me wrong, God bless em. I like good gear as much as the next guy. Just wondering ... Do ministries / churches like Bethel, Elevation etc pay them as full time staff members? I imagine they get paid to do these large events. Do they get paid to play at church services?
@YY-pu4oy4 жыл бұрын
Some are FT staff members, some are just laid to play at events/tours. For example Mateus Asato played for elevation but I don’t think his a staff member

If I just want a 4 string small acoustic guitar that would give a somber worshipfull tone not like a high pitched ukulele sound what should I get? Dont need anything fancy just to help sing in a small house group setting.
@artofmana5 жыл бұрын
There are tenor guitars that might suit you. I recently picked up an Ibanez tenor that retails for $199 but I picked up one with a factory finish defect that was dirt cheap. I set it up with thicker strings and tuned it to GDAD and it sounds pretty good and is a ton of fun. It plays easily and well in G and D which are common keys. The chords are open and droning which works really well for praise and worship. It could work really well for you! Hope that helps and God bless!

Awesome. I also use the Matt Schofield slap, always on. I keep a setting on my boss DD 500. I have it set up for 2 delays at once, so the Matt setting can be used alongside any programmed delay I'm using. You can also set up the Boss for 3 delays at once, though I've only ever used the 2 with the 3rd footswitch doing the tap tempo. Though everything is pre programmed, I leave the tap available just in case. Glad to see someone also loving the Matt Schofield delay, and calling it by name.

it's nice to see the 2nd guitar player has a Bethel hoodie and Elevation hat...loooool. I see a lot of people criticizing the rigs of the guitar players saying all this money this and that, worshiping gears, etc......so Prince, Steve Vai, Metallica, are allowed to use super expensive gears to present their songs and performance to a secular audience and musicians who play for God cannot offer their best using expensive gears to worship God. So God design a fruit tree to use the very best of the best ingredient it can find in the soil to present us the best version of fruit that it can produce for us and it is a problem to use the best expensive gear to offer the best worship to God. the only thing these musicians need to worry about, is to make sure their worship comes from the heart, pure and honest...and I am pretty sure they do since they invest time and resources on these gears to offer their best. God bless.

Not a critique really, but that first pedalboard looks like $4,000+ of gear. As someone who has been playing with worship bands for several years, I understand the need for tonal variety and lots of ambient effect ability, as well as being a musician, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to build a rig that gives you tone you love. That being said, I hope any young and aspiring worship guitarists can take this as maybe a guide, and not get caught up in just trying to spend thousands on gear to make pretty noises. Worship comes down to your heart for God and his people, and beyond that, always learning, striving to give him excellence, practicing, as well as developing your own style and enjoying it as you go. Yeah you’ll want some nice effects, we all do, and most modern worship sort of requires it, but if you have all that and haven’t spent any time finding yourself in the instrument and worship, developing as a player, it will probably never feel enough. Not saying that’s what these guys have done. I think they’re great players with a lot of fairly original style within modern worship, but they got there not with gear, at least not gear alone, but honing their art and offering it to God.

These guys are pros, and what they do with their money doesn't mean it's bad. Maybe they need all that gear for other gigs. Yeah, you don't need all that gear, but they have it and good for them.
@Jayyy_Wav5 жыл бұрын
Beautifully said. Anyone with a couple bucks can get a rig like this, but worship surely comes from your heart therefore you’re able to play your mind. But for that of course you need lots of musical knowledge as well. I own a rig similar to this but I know musicians that make a cheap rig sound amazing.
@lancecass89975 жыл бұрын
Yes, anyone aspiring, I recommend a multi effects pedal, helix stomp maybe, boss ms3. Get tons of variety, and find out what you need and like. It helps a lot, and maybe will be all you need. There's never ending options out there, and a lot.of trends. And honestly, you can get by live, with much less if needed. Good luck and God bless
@93greenstrat4 жыл бұрын
I'm sure that these large churches have budgets for this sort of thing in addition to people having accumulated gear over the years. As for me, I'm good with a couple Strats and a multi-effect/modeler unit. I obviously don't go to one of those large churches :-D

This is rather disgusting really. You've made a show, a business out of (supposed) Worship of God. Loads of expensive gear, a stage, lighting and a few thousand youngsters per gig paying to get the feels in a concert which they misapprehend as a worship experience.
@DrShrimpPuertoRicoMD6 жыл бұрын
Robert Payne Hey man. I see what you’re saying. All of this stuff isn’t necessary for worship but I see it both ways. They’ve got the resources to try to sound the best that they think they can. If you’re a worship player in one of the biggest worship bands in the world, good reliable gear is needed. As long as you are worshipping God instead of worshipping your gear, I think it’s okay. And if people are just paying for a concert experience I believe you’re there for the wrong reason anyway.
