People give Bethesda shit but theyre still supporting the games they made almost 13 years ago. Skyrim is still being updated. Im sorry but other companies dont support 13 year old singleplayer games. Bethesda does have their faults but the time and effort they put into supporting their games is truly special and im so tired of all the haters.

why is it not fair to compare elder scrolls 6 to other single player fantasy rpg games, when it is a single player fantasy rpg game? Strange takes in this, basically, "starfield is meh but I had low expectations so I enjoyed it" is what I got from the video. I think people are upset because a game of this magnitude, which claimed to be "the next big thing" was just meh. Like, it had hundreds of millions of dollars, and their biggest dev team yet, and this is all they could come up with?

The gameplay is fun, it's just the world building that pisses me off. When its not generic, it's stupid. Like why does every system have a life supporting planet? NASA freaks out when they discover a planet that might have liquid water. Why did the Freestar Collective build their capital on a desert planet with 2X normal gravity? Why did a resort company purchase an entire planet, when sure the ideal climate would only be located in a certain longitude? I could go on for days. If I could say the game fails in one way its "world building".

Duuude, that is not how capitalism works. Microsoft didn't buy Bethesda to pour money into it, but to gain more profit from it. There will be more pressure on TES 6 to be made fast, cheap and profitable. I would be surprised if it didn't turn out worse, not better, than Starfield. 😞

The Starfield Affect: Playing a game for over 100 hours and still not knowing if you like it. This may be a meme, but it is 100% true. Now, I love Starfield, BUT it has 2 glaring issues IMO that could be fixed easily, and they may already be working on it. 1. Space needs WAY more content. (I"m tired of handing out repair parts and not getting cool and interesting missions) 2. The main quest runs counter to the rest of the game. If you ignore the space wizard aspect you are left with not just 1 game, but 2 pretty distinct games: A space exploration game in which you can build your ship from scratch, 2. A pretty solid 4X-esque empire builder. I could nit-pik things like anybody, but I found these two things to be the most damning. Space being boring and repetitive I guarantee they are working on. And the space wizard just needs some tweaking. The powers suck because you are meant to NG+ them into oblivion. With chemistry you can make them more viable, but you still will struggle just to go full magic build. Plus, this takes away from the more down to earth combat aspects already available. Plus melee needs some kill cams or something. It's 2x4 combat guys. For real though, this game is still pretty damn amazing.

My biggest complaint is that space travel is really terrible. They abstracted space travel to the point where it was just transition cutscenes and instant fast travel, so the only time you get any sense of distance between points is when you're walking around on foot - which is too tedious. Other than that, the basic gameplay is decent and I actually do like the hand-crafted content. It's not entirely wasted potential, but it certainly doesn't live up to it.

it's a good game if you're stuck in 2014 and enjoy the 'Bethesda magic' which is just code for a buggy, outdated, and unoptimized mess that borders unplayable without heavy modding. Bethesda always release 65% of a game and let the community finish it.

I think it's not as bad people say it is but i know why the really don't like it, it's not because of the story it because the exploration is bad in this game, in older games if you wanted to explore a new area you walk to but in starfield you fast travel to any location to explore it which leads to more loading screens that break immersion

Whatever the game's flaws...and it has some...a large percentage of the critiques are trash and exist only to fire up the unwashed masses of sweaty gamers into a frothing fury. The game is fun and I'm enjoying the hell of it...especially post the May 15th update.

7:30 i was waiting for the moment when the person says its the engine holding them back from doing great things. We need to stop making excuses for them. They made excellent games with a far worse engine: Morrowind, Oblivion, etc. Showing us that its possible to create masterpieces despite the engines flaws. But its like you forgot that, and you go with the excuse that shifts the blame off Bethesda and onto something else. Also its ironic to say that people making videos about Starfield sucks is an easy way to generate views, when its actually the opposite - you have 20 subs and got 2.3k views from having an opinion that its good.

Yes it sucks compared even with FALLOUT 4 (9 years ago)... *despite all it's flaws and step-backs I was able to enjoy it and have fun*

Rant inbound. Dont blame you for not reading. I honestly think their notoriety with the engine is here-say sprinkled with a bit of confirmation bias over the years. For example from a typical naysayer: “Bethesda games have lousy performance and their gameplay is outdated, therefore their engine must be outdated.” There was one journalist/KZbinr that mentioned something interesting. He was breaking down the negativity behind Bethesda, and mentioned that if there is an issue, its not Bethesda’s engine….its Bethesda. If there is an issue, it is that Bethesda are very ambitious and seek to prioritize testing themselves to see how much stuff they can put into a game and still have it function without crashing. This ambition can cause them to forget their core audience, and pay attention specifically to what they want. I think thats one of the key reasons why BG3 is so beloved by people, its because the game was in a form of early access for years, and is literally built on the feedback of those that were able to access it. People who play Bethesda games are looking mostly for “meaningful” exploration, cool loot, and environmental storytelling, but Bethesda has honestly been shifting gears recently. It seems they want to focus on terraforming the open world rpg further via building and crafting. I think Starfield is an example of a solid game, alienating the expectations of the core audience. Bethesda wanted to make this game for years, and they sought out to achieve their ambitions, rather than service their audience. The “problem “ with Starfield is that it is a clash of design philosophy, ery similar to Fallout 76. You just dont try to fit a Bethesda game with all of its variables into a multi world, multi landing zone game space. But they tried it anyway, hence the loading screens and othe supposed issues. I admire their ambition, and I love Starfield, ut I can understand where people that dont like the game are coming from. I just wish naysayers understood the true nature of this game.

I'ma be real. Starfield is just a chore. The loading screens really is too much. Skyrim already teethers on being just tolerable but starfield goes overboard. This game really should've taken place on 1 alien planet that was habitable. Thats it. Maybe add in a moon and a couple of asteroids. Because I really do like the realistic theme of starfield. But then bethesda has to go out of their way to include goofy space cowboys in a setting that should be more akin to the expanse tv show with all their focus on realism. And come on man. Too high expectations? This is the same defense used by people who defend every flaw of dark souls and elden ring. Why should we deal with crap performance? Crap camera? No FOV at launch? Crap graphics? Etc. Its 2023/24 now. Bethesda could've learnt to optimize their game better by now. Just go to my channel and see how good modded skyrim can look and then compare that to starfield. Its just insane how a 2011 game can look as good as a 2023 game from bethesda with mods. This should not be possible.

Problem is Starfields writing is so bad, that anyone who says they enjoyed it in earnest are simultaneously declaring that they’re an idiot. That’s hardly just an opinion. Nearly every creative decision in this game is mired in pure idiocy, and expects the player suspend their own intelligence in order to reasonably suspend disbelief. I’ve never played a game with writing so devoid of thought and consideration, and not in the ‘so stupid it’s good’ way. Partaking in it is mental self flagellation.

I enjoyed Starfield for what it is, and I really hope it makes a comeback. That being said, some of its mechanics are straight up downgrade from Fallout 4. I dont think that "hoping the game lives up to last one that came 8 years ago" count as overblown expectations

But, Starfield is garbage.

My only complaint about Starfield is that I cant pick up 400 lbs of random junk then break it all down into materials for a 3d printer. The concept of scrap / recycle would be far more logical in a future where 3d printing has been advancing for 200 years. That was such an enjoyable part of the gameplay loop in Fallout that I was so looking forward to it in Starfield.

I can't even run this game. And from what I've seen and heard, I'm not missing out on much, even then. The one thing I was looking forwards to was the space exploration, and ship customisation. Whilst making your own starship is pretty cool, (although they do look kind of.. Weird. Like you can look at it, and you can tell that it's all modules, and it's hard to not notice after you do so the first time.) the fact that space itself is pretty much another zone between zones, and you can't really manually fly from planet to planet yourself. I can forgive them having to make landing on planets a loading screen thing, like that shit might be hard to implement. But you can't fly from one end of the system to another yourself. Hell, even on the planet, you can't walk from one end to the other yourself, without fast travelling to another section. I also have the PC specs listed. It'll technically still run, but it becomes unplayable after a specific point in the fucking PROLOGUE. And I tried powering through that shit, to see if it fixes itself. It doesn't. Fuck this piece of shit game, just play No Man's Sky, or even Star Citizen, is better than this game. And if you want to build your own ships, get Space Engineers instead. Starfield is nothing special, and whilst it's arguable that it's perhaps not bad, it's absolutely NOT good by any means. I'm sure it's my kind of game, but I can't exactly play it myself, can I? There's no way for me to be able to discern that for myself, because it's an unoptimised fucking hot mess. And in my book, if it can't run without having a supercomputer when it first released, it's just a bad game for that alone. Oh, also, you also have the modders saying this game is next to impossible to work with. That alone is fucking damning for a Bethesda game.

Bethesda has always sucked though. That's the problem. They could hide behind the fact no one else was doing RPGs like they were. Now, they have competition and all those problems are coming out, but they have always been there. You have the market cornered; sure you'll get praised. However, if you can have an outside studio come in and do it, but not only that do it better on one of your IPs, you should pack it in.

Starfield just about gets a 7/10, its not bad but it has issues, some are quality of life issues, others are just the reptative boring random loaction spawns to explore, but the side quests are fun outpost seem pointless unless you want a complex money grinding system

Who would have known that the TV Show would kick Fallout games to a new gear. 5 Million Fallout players in a day. 1 Million alone in Fallout 76 is crazy. And with latest upcoming updates for Starfield I am expecting that things will make a turn for the better.

Well its not bad also not good either until they update the game with 50000 cool ships desings from all players - only then it Will be a True Starfield Legend - until that happens its bad - lets change that and yours Ships collection with the good staff from me like the GoldStar 3 LEGENDERY Ship and the newest Gray Angel Unique ship design and the newest IRON STAR 7 UC Legendery design ship and the GoldStorm and the GoldSpear Unique Original Starfield only starships. Starfield is an amazing game, no way it still would have 5.4 million players without dlcs and mod support.... Bg3 for eg is dying at 1.6 million, and its only a month older to Starfield. Hell Starfield was the most played singleplayer of 2023.... If it was bad, would that be the case? People can hate on it as much as they like, facts are facts

The first city, a huge moment in any rpg, was more poorly designed and empty than a city from any abandoned 20yr old MMO. I put 25 hours in before stopping just due to boredom, outside of ship building everything is less than small indie quality. Procedural generation??? Go check out Deeprock Galactic. Space combat??? The original x-wing vs tie is better (along with a ton since). ect ect ect....
