I love this video! I went to check out more of this gentlemen’s content, but unfortunately this is the only video he ever made? Anybody know if he’s coming back?

Building a studio in my attic atm but currently wondering if i need bass traps? Gonna be slightly difficult because of the pitched roof.

Hi, I was wondering if the carpet floor would sound good when recording music? I am looking for the best kind of floor for my home studio attic.

25:34 ----> what we use to do in the 80s, was cook the strings for a few minutes in hot water when they sounded too dull. The great thing was that that really helps, for if you want to record demo's BUT ... they dull down really really fast after that. So that could help if you want that sound. We used this trick a lot in the old days. :-) . I ran a recording project studio for 22 years where I composed for (and recorded) singers and instrumentalists mainly in the 80s and 90s in the Netherlands.

Hello, good video and nice setup too. I saw at the end you were looking for a better slider controller. I use this one, Sparrow 4x100mm MIDI controller It's like 100.00 for four sliders at 100mm. Anyway, if you already have great. If not check it out. It works great and for a good price too. 😁

it's not a good idea to have a window behind the monitor ...the contrast between the relatively low light levels of the monitor and broad daylight is too much for the human eye to accommodate..

Hi Rob, not sure if you've discovered this since the video but for a darker guitar string right out of the box you might like flat wound strings?

I'm digging this setup! I've got a pair of Barefoot Footprint 02s coming next week. The Herman Miller Aeron Chair is awesome as well enabling hours of listening without pain. Thanks for the ideas and possible additions to my mini-studio

Nice vid mate. FYI UPS stands for Uninterruptible Power Supply, rather than Universal. Theyre pretty much a necessity in places where mains isnt stable, to regulate frequency variations, surges, overcome mains loss and some cases activate generators, whilst providing the power bridge between the mains off and generator on.

Looks smart, simple but effective, I just call My studio Holla Sounds Studio, well I would but its currently not at a standard that would class as a studio.

Hi! I also have a studio in my attic but it's not 100% symmetrical so the highest point of the ceiling is not in the middle where I'm sitting. I was wondering if I can place the absorption panels following the "A" shape of my ceiling instead of putting it parallel to the floor.

Thanks a lot for the walkthrough Rob. Very inspiring and useful ideas. One question for those like me that have always worked "in the box". How are all those outboard devices and rack connected to your interface? 🙏
@RobHill
@RobHill 2 жыл бұрын
The interface has 8 line ins and 8 line outs. Everything goes through the patchbay, but some stuff is ‘normalised’ ie connected by default to the interface via the patchbay. Any extra gear I bring in can just be plugged straight into the interface via the patchbay which saves having to unplug stuff and reach round the back.

Lovely video Rob and very practical, we have an unconverted loft space that needs to become a studio ASAP. 🙏 I have to say, if it's memories you're looking to fill your studio with, top of the list has to be that amp you and your brother nearly finished surely... yes I know... I've got two kids too 😂 but one day maybe? I reckon you could afford that transformer now eh? 😉 🙏👍

Great video, thanks for sharing! At some point the "snakepit" behind my desk / rack is totally annoying. So I started watching studio setup videos. Great idea with these "cable management things" ... looks like a cable duct (no native speaker, hopefully you know what I mean) but with all the openings at the side. This is great! But I got lot's of other cool inspiration. Thank you very much!

@Rob Hill, amazing production, cograts on the studio. I would like to ask you, seeing as you,ve got only this on keyboard, does it has a hammer like action? If so, I`d guess it`s incredable for recording the piano, but, can you recor other insntruments that require faster notes? Bass or Guitar, Drums even? I`d imagine it`s slower since it has the action that takes a while too came back.

Rob, thank you! Please talking about your favourite software instruments and plugins. Are sound panels rockwool or other materials? Old style wood looks great!) I wanna make on my studio similarly, but I heard that materials (rockwool) without safe panel (textile) dangerous. Your studio is great!) Must be example!))
