There’s a portal that always takes back us to this song. Might take a few generations.

Perhaps the greatest song of unrequited teenage love that isn't "Walk Away Renee." "Why'd you leave me to the pain of growing old without you" is the ultimate line about unrequited love. Wow. 😥

Thanks for posting this! I've loved Jason Falkner's music for about 26 years now. He's one of my favourite artists. He can be so poppy and velvety and then rocky and back to just the best ever sounding pop and I relate to every single lyric....I relate to being in love and in loss with this guy. He's one of my favourite guitar players, along with Glenn Tilbrook, George Harrison, Steve Howe, Marvin Lee, SRV, and even Glenn Campbell (no sorry, not Glenn Campbell ..... I could go on and on, I guess we all have our favs. It's just that I've never been able to understand why he's not HUGE. I ramble! Hello to all Falkner fans.:) Have lovely day ;)

A song of Artificial Intelligence..... Flash: I can't believe it's happening I just want to stay the way that I am I don't want to live a lie in an artificial world Mr Black: Let's build an antiseptic world Full of artificial people Cure all diseases, conquer pain And monitor the human brain And see what thoughts you're thinking Observe your feelings Secret fears Controlling everything you say and do And we will build a master race To live within our artificial world Tell it to the people all across the land We're going to build an artificial man With the physique of a Tarzan And the profile of a Cary Grant Superior beings totally made by hand Throw out imperfection Mould you section by section Gonna make you the ultimate creation Flash: I can visualise the day When the world will be controlled by artificial people But I don't want to live a lie in an artificial world Mr Black: Tell the world that we finally did it Made a man that's totally programmed Preconditioned thoughts and emotions Push-button artificial man Did you ever want to live forever? Well here's your chance to be a total automaton 'Cos we've improved on God's creation An outdated homo sapien Make you taller if you want it Make your hair grow longer if you need it If it doesn't exist then I guess we can breed it There'll be no disagreements We'll dedicate our lives to achievements And organise your life and keep it totally planned Flash: I can visualise the day When the world will be controlled by artificial people But I don't want to live a lie in an artificial world Mr Black: Tell the world we finally did it And Mad Modified the population Scientist: Put your senses and your mind Under constant observation Even when you're dreaming Replaced your nose, heart and lungs So shake me with your artificial hand We went and built a master race To live within our artificial world

Why is there a photo of Alex Chilton when he didn't write or sing this song? John Auer did. Chilton might have played guitar on it, but that's it.

Just seeing this now. Wow. It’s a very challenging song to play, so I can only imagine how difficult it is to sing. You do a superb job with it. And although it’s always going to be EC’s you do a damn fine job of making it your own.

Beagle is a Swedish power pop band that peaked in popularity ten years before this contribution to the 2002 CD "Right to Chews: Bubblegum Classics Revisited" (on the Not Lame label, Ft. Collins, CO). This CD contains 24 tracks, each by a different act, including most famously The Rubinoos.

This song was originally recorded in the late 1960's by Geoff Turton (of Rockin' Berries fame) under his solo act name Jefferson. It was a bit rough around the edges and went unreleased, clearing the way for the very polished Tony Burrows with Edison Lighthouse version (essentially using the same arrangement) to go to #1 in the UK and top five in the US in early 1970.

Less, it's brad... you know the guy up the hill. This just blew my mind anytime... you have amazing control of your vocals. It was hard to pinpoint when you switched to falsetto.

Five-man indie rock/pop rock/power pop guitar band from Lund, Sweden who were active from 1991-1993 (the album "Sound On Sound" from 1992 was their most notable recording). "Love Grows" was their contribution to the 2002 CD (on the Not Lame label out of Fort Collins, CO) titled "Right to Chews: Bubble Gum Classics Revisited" - with 24 different acts (including, most famously, The Rubinoos) each contributing one new recording from the much maligned genre.
