The OGs just tried to replicate the "light" from Rembrandt paintings, but people these days are too stupid to even know who Rembrandt is, and they end up doing whatever a youtube guy tells them is "cinematic". You are doing the right thing, which is to experiment and actually try to get something good based on actual good reference.

I’m also not quite an artist like you or the girls in the film but the film touched me in much the same way, I do a few things artistically and one even as a job, but the one that this reminded me of was playing an instrument. I’m at the point that most people see me play and think I’m pretty good even if I can never bring myself to think so. A few months ago my wrists began to give out on me, I would find myself on the verge of crying during rehearsals and practice whenever I could feel that now familiar sharp pain begin. It was a sign in my mind that I was failing that despite my efforts I was always doing it wrong. I could feel it in how my teachers would look at me. I used to have these memories of playing that would make me feel alive, where it felt like there was nothing more in the world that I would need if I could do this forever. I’m at a point where I know I will have to stop playing within a year, weather it be to prevent further injury or just because I am aging out of this activity but just like you I find myself wondering why I do it all anymore, if those moments of joy and wonder can’t find me anymore. Thank you for sharing, I haven’t taken the time to really reflect on my art in sometime and this have me the opportunity, I hope you find whatever answers you need in your film making process.

Hello. Very helpful video. Straight and too the point. I learned alot. What temperature lighting do you use for the cinematic look? I notice a lot of this look is yellow looking but I don't know it that's from color correction of lighting temperature?

It's the equipment, Lighting, Camera's that Hollywood use to produce a film these are very expensive, your looking at £20,000+, though Hollywood would hire these. The camera's are for very professional use and are quite heavy but loaded with features.

The difference is easy. Lightning and Lens. End of Story
@jamessimsivАй бұрын
It’s “LIGHTS, CAMERA + (lens), ACTION” for a reason. It’s absolutely lighting, many KZbinrs should study still photographers after all it’s called “director of photography”

Hey there I saw your video years ago and I tried to take your advice is add bingo it works but it's still very very bottle away from great movie . But if we comparing Hollywoods movies we can see many difference between them some off them are iconic any other hand there is something like trash that means that the brains and budget can decide how it's gonna be ❤

Did you ever put ML on your T3i and if so did that change anything for you creatively or business wise? I eventually went from a T3 to a C100. I gave my t3 to my niece as a beginner photographer, but went back and got a t3i with ML for a back up or 2nd camera or run and gun, saving my c100 for larger projects. I'm a screenwriter/producer, so although I have all the basic gear I need, I don't get gear happy, focusing more on story. As long I can stretch my videos to be 2k. I'm good for now.
