I am sure the extra juice is worthwhile but in my ear the Subaru engine completely changes the feel of the Westfalia. I want the power but I don't want to drive to the sound of a rice rocket.

@carl27890 It's a 73' so it's somewhat heavy, and the suspension is nothing like a modern bike....but it'll get down a trail okay!

Advance that timing please.OR get rid of that fuel infection as we used to call it at the dealerships and put some webers on it.If its a 1.7 those solex carbs they put on the later vans are nice and easy to tune.

That is exactly the 914 I've always wanted, except I like the Pedrini wheels that are almost impossible to find.

@truckduck13 I really miss mine! I had a 73 2.0 but got cocky on a slick day and we went sideways into a telephone pole. Amazingly it hit behind the front wheel, but in front of the door so only the fender was dented, but I was going fast enough to bend and twist the car. College course taken, price one 914. I have driven a 1.7 scince then and had it not been so ratty would have bought it. Got an Alfa GTV6 instead. Another great driving car, look into it!
