Great video man, I have a drive stuck in gear and now I know I can just open the back up and move that shift lever so that I can get the cable off. It won't release allowing me to remove the drive. I too have kids all the time in my videos. lol

The Slimer conversion to the GM power plant was excellent. Thing goes like a dart, and parts are available for future needs. Too bad Ford jumped out of the Marine market. Thank you for all of the help with this conversion Eric. Fun project. Lots of late nights, but great conversations and friendship.

My detent ball is not fixed/ crimped into the sleeve. I noticed both of your ball are still in the sleeve. Is this any issue?
@williambrydges1329
@williambrydges1329 Жыл бұрын
I just swapped out the ball and sleeve with one that holds the ball in. The drive is easier to shift now. Both balls could be pushed in with about the same force, but I guess the side load created by the lever was making it binde some.

Just curious of your setup?! Im currently looking at a 97 252br with a 454, what is your average cruising speed and top speed with that boat? And does it handle the chop well?
@Slickmick1777
@Slickmick1777 Жыл бұрын
Hey man! The boat handles phenomenal, esp in chop. Esp if you're used to a 20' foot boat it's a game changer! I cruise in the high 30's low 40's my personal top speed was 62 mph. I have a 454 efi magnum motor in mine. We're actually buying 2 more of these boats to bring back to Utah because they're just hard to beat. But they're also hard to find!

Mines stiff but ball pushes in fine but when I refit it, it seems stiff. I’m wondering if it’s been over greased as it was packed with grease. I’m thinking it might only need lightly oiled ?

Does the shifter boot/ bellow keep water out of the cavity? It does not attach to the housing. I am having water somehow get into my detent ball area and then I can't shift the boat. I resealed the cover and drive with gasket maker with no luck.
@Slickmick1777
@Slickmick1777 2 жыл бұрын
So typically if your shift boot is bad you get water coming into your engine side of your boat more so than the cavity. But when I replaced the boot with the shift cable it took care of my problem, along it might help to line your gasket with a little rtv to help seal it up if the water continues to be a problem.

FYI... Your gear lube connector looks MUCH easier than mine (which I think is like most) which is why you hear that it's really difficult. Mine (shown here www.amazon.com/HamornySTR-Mercruiser-Fitting-22-861150T02-fitting-Supersedes/dp/B08628Z7SF ) has an e-clip which is very difficult to get to. Love the video... not too many out there on the gear lube (I've looked!) that's like mine! Thanks!

What is the correct way to fill the Bravo 3 outdrive? Some people tell me to fill from bottom until you fill up the reservoir in the boat, and others say to fill just until you're fluid is coming out of the vent plug... Which way is the correct way? Lol
