Green cone is not a co poster, it's a food waste digester, it's not designed for garden waste. Used properly the unit should not require emptying, or at most every few years. Food waste is digested down to liquid, various gasses and a tiny residue. You are mistaking this digester for a composter, which it is not.

Nonetheless, it worked well for us. I don't live there anymore, but when we dug up the unused one every year, the stuff inside it had dissolved down into a rich black dirt (except for avocado pits, which stayed intact). My housemate took a class through the city of Seattle, and this is what they recommended. It worked fine. We didn't put garden waste in it - we put food waste in it. But no meat, etc. and no cat litter either.

Don't worry Teri, the video is great, I was just being (poorly) sarcastic. As for adding pics, I think you have to edit the original video with some video editing software and reupload it.

This is the third glass casting video i've seen not showing the final result... what is wrong with you? Are you all part of a secret glass casters society where is a mortal sin to show the end result?

Vito Manvito This was filmed in a hot glass studio with lots of people moving around. I had to stay out of the way of the people doing the pour. AND, I had to keep the camera far enough away that it wouldn't be harmed by the 2000-degree molten glass. I am disappointed with the number of whiny complaints and "thumbs down" on this video - people need to try to be more understanding. I have no way of removing the annoying background music, stabilizing the video, or showing the finished piece at the end. This was meant as a "you are there" kind of thing, not a professional videographer video. I think that despite its many flaws, it still gives the flavor of how glass casting is done. However, if I do any future glass casting videos, I will keep these things in mind and do a better one next time!

It's not karaoke - someone had music playing as we were doing the pour. I agree, it's annoying, but no way to take it out now.

I think ur using yours wrong! I jus got taught n it is a digester for the stuff u can't compost like animal poo n meat products. It shud only be every few years that u open it.

@craigmbarrow The face was a plaster cast mold made from Jessie's face. I packed damp sand into it and then placed that in my sand mold face up. The black stuff is soot from an acetylene torch - this acts as a resist, so the hot glass doesn't stick to the sand.

@rabidchevy They don't tax you for not composting. But if you don't compost, you are required to pay for yard waste pickup. I guess they do that so people don't leave branches on the ground or whatever. I don't know. My former housemate took the composting class years ago. I don't know if it was through Seattle Public Utilities or not, or whether she paid or got it free. I don't think it was ever "required." I'm not sure what you're driving at, but I too am glad you don't live in Seattle.

@teri433 so how much money did the city of seattle spend to get about what 2 or 3 cubic feet of compost in a year, the fact that seattle public utilities taxes you for not composting makes me glad i dont live in seattle. and did i hear you correctly when you said a "class" in composting, did the peoples paradise of seattle make you take that avoid paying taxes too?
@teri433
@teri433 13 жыл бұрын
@rabidchevy Actually I believe my former housemate got that stuff for free from Seattle Public Utilities a few years ago. And, with the composting system, we didn't have to pay the yard waste pickup fee every billing cycle. (I've since moved.) In Seattle that fee is mandatory for single family homes unless you have a composting system.

I've had my Green Cone Digester for nearly two weeks now. I use it to dispose of cat litter, dog waste and bones. I balance this stuff out by feeding the cone vegetables in the form of uprooted dandelions which I have in great abundance. So far, I love my Green Cone.

He was meowing in the first video, of himself on the stairs, but by the time I made a video of a video of a video, you couldn't hear the meowing. But that, I think, was what kept him watching - hearing himself meow.
