Thank you sooo much for bringing this to light! I don't care much for the Academy Awards, but I give them goddamn credit for completely ignoring this hot mess of a film! Everyone, for a better premise executed in a film DURING the Cold War, please see "2010: The Year We Make Contact."

Studio Gibli....obvs tons of famous movies, but if you want your world changed with one of the best and saddest movies ever made....Grave of the Fireflies. Strangely, it's a perfect pairing with Godzilla Minus One (Godzilla would be the chaser because it would lift your spirits, yet deal with a similar time-period in Japan).

Enjoying y'alls show. 😎👍 I grew up cleaning my local Wallace theater every summer. We were hoping Regal would spruce things up when they bought out Wallace, but I'm sure they didn't consider it worth their while. I don't keep up with movies like I used to, but I enjoy the nearby AMC. It's a much nicer facility than Movies 8 in my hometown.

You're referring to Nando, Parrado. His racoon eyes were due to a brain concusion he sustained during the crash. He was in a coma for three days; racoon eyes are a symprom of his injury. True fact. Bayona is fanatical about some details in the movie being true to the real experience. Yhank you for your review; this story is ig in our culture. In a more global context, it's about resilience and adaptability of the human spirit in an effort to survive even in the most adverse circumstances. Keep up oyur good work.

It was a beautiful detailed movie, I think Bayona needs to make more movies like this. I think this will be in my top ten of 2023

His black circles under his eyes are due to the presence of a fracture at the base of the skull. This it could have cost him his lifebut possibly the ice on which his head was rested helped prevent inflammation and, thus, reduce the harmful consequences of the craniocerebral trauma. The causes of black circles under the eyes If we refer to dark circles under the eyes, they may be due to the reasons mentioned above. The skin around the eyes is very thin and less elastic than that of the rest of the face. Therefore, if the blood accumulates under it, the typical darkening of dark circles. Poor circulation, for example, causes bagging in the blood that flows through the vessels in the area under the eyes. The same thing happens when we rest poorly, because at night the blood flows more slowly and it is easier for the same pockets to form. Poor hydration can cause the same effect. All this could happen to the protagonists of The Snow Society. But, in the case of Nando Parrado, what happens to him is something known as periorbital ecchymosis. The particular case of The Snow Society Nando doesn’t just have black circles under his eyes in the movie. The entire contour of his eyes is darkened, as if it were a raccoon or a panda bear. This, in reality, is nothing more than a hematoma which forms when blood from the fracture leaks into the tissue around the eyes. We have already seen that this is a very thin tissue, so everything under it is visible, especially when it is a hematoma as intense as the one caused by these fractures. In fact, raccoon eyes, as they are known colloquially, are a diagnostic criterion for this type of fractures. If it is bilateralin both eyes, it is calculated that, with 85% probabilitya fracture has occurred at the base of the skull, so a quick diagnosis of the problem can be made. If a doctor had quickly seen this character of The Snow Society I would have known it right away. However, although there was one among the passengers, he did not have the tools to deal with a case like his. He would have no choice but to thank the snow for his survival.

I thought this concept was so ripe for an awesome thrilling ride, and to me the movie was not that. At 95min the pace surprisingly dragged and the movie tries to do too much that it loses sight of its simplistic yet brilliant concept. Could’ve been amazing but I walked out feeling, meh. Also I’m pretty sure it forgets there is no gravity in space more than a couple times!

Society of the Snow: J. A. Bayona is from Spain, so it's a Spanish movie about the uruguayan rugby team plane crash. According to your question about the eyes I think you mixed 2 characters: one of them is Nando Parrado, the one who lost his sister and his mum, and one of the 2 guys that walked 70 km through Andes mountains and finally got rescued. On the plane crash he fractured his skull in 3 parts (that's why he's got dark around his eyes) and his friends thinking he was dead put them on the snow. The cold of the snow touching his head saved his life. There is another guy, one of the 2 "doctors" (they were 19 years old so they were just in 1st or 2nd year of university) that got temporary blinded by the snow reflect and cold.

Wow I missed that about the snow touching the head. Thank you for clearing that up. It's one I could rewatch some day

@@TheHollywoodPersona Well, that information is not in the movie but there are lots of documentaries and interviews about this tragedy/miracle. Is considered by National Geographic as the gratest survival history. Best experienced mountain professionals can't understand how could they walked around 70 Km during 10 days and nights crossing the Andes without proper clothes and equipment (they don't even have gloves and wear rugby shoes) and no snow experience at all. They were from Uruguay so they had his contact with the the snow for the first time. In the mountains the altitude is so high and human body consumes more oxygen than normally used to do. So the walked 10 days having lost around 20-30 kilos. This story is just incredible.

Yes, there are cameos to some of the real survivors, the most notable is that of Carlitos Paez, who is the sir who in the part prior to the rescue reads the list with the names of the survivors, there he plays his father, who in the In real life he did that, he read that list on a radio broadcast, and when he has to read his own name when he says, Carlos Paez my son, it is moving..@@TheHollywoodPersona
