what are the dimensions of the field? The big outer rectangle and the smaller inner rectangles?
@KSPerformance6 күн бұрын
Really depends on the age - though at least 20x30 would be good. That puts 3 zones at 20x10. (20 wide).

Where do you place them if you have 12-14 players?
@KSPerformance6 күн бұрын
Good question! With 12 you can have two set up’s. Prevent players waiting in a line too long. Just go with one player on the mannequin instead of two. So you’ll have one player on each mannequin and then at each cone, totaling 6 at each set up. Hope that helps!
@dylanmartin84696 күн бұрын
@@KSPerformance It does thanks. I am a goalkeeper, and have been coaching for 4 years, sometimes, these drills just get me confused, so much movement, is it a matter of just running it with the boys (14s) and have fun/its okay if I mess it up a few times?
@KSPerformance4 күн бұрын
@dylanmartin8469 absolutely! Joining in the drill yourself will help both you and the players understand better. (Sometimes a purposely bad touch from yourself, might help settle some nerves for other players too lol!) Most important thing is to enjoy it!

Can this work for u8 to u12?
@KSPerformance20 күн бұрын
Absolutely! From my experience the u11 & u12 will grasp the idea behind it quicker. The younger players might just see it as ‘but we aren’t passing to our team, we are kicking into space?’ But they will grow into it. And of course, it all depends on players ability. Hope that helps!

@@KSPerformance Thanks. 👍 Tried it with my U8s today. They struggled big time with the short-long' passing sequence. 😅 But we'll keep working at it over time.

I've so badly needed this video for my son haha. He takes REALLY long strides when he runs, which hurts his dribbling. I've done some things to shorten it, but not yet enough. But I think the one foot in drill is really going to help with that.

How did it go? Any progressions/variations to share?
@strikingtwice3 ай бұрын
First off, just hands down the best socc/football channel of this type on YT. I know other people do different content styles, but your presentation of these exercises helps me plan my sessions in a very limited amount of time, as I'm just a volunteer travel coach, having to run sessions two nights a week, and a working father of two. Time is precious, this cuts right to the material. Second, What age would you recommend this for? The concept is fairly easy, but I have a pretty rammy bunch of 10-11yo boys, and I like to try to keep everyone playing at all times, and this particular one looks like there might be some waiting around involved on some of the blue players. Thoughts?
@KSPerformance3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! Appreciate it! The goal of the channel is to have videos that are easy to understand and coaches can write them down in a pinch. Glad that has been the case for you. Also, credit to you for the commitment! Yeah there is a little bit of waiting around, but it’s minor, I tend to have a 15 second timer for the defenders to win the ball back. Then rotate after that time to keep players from waiting too long. That has worked in my experience with that age group. Alternatively, an over the river style drill would be ideal for your age group too! Hope that helps, keep up the solid work coach!

What do you use to make the drills?

Full back into midfield then overlap ? What happens if lose ball here. Completely out of position and will get punished.
@KSPerformance3 ай бұрын
Fair point! Though this drill isn’t specifying the positions of the players, more used to get the idea and concept of the overlap run. The players can then perform overlaps in any area, and with any position on the pitch. Doesn’t have to stay with the stereotypical full back overlap, we can encourage overlaps across the midfield too! Hope that helps!

players should know and be prepared for anyone over lapping. Either someone drops in to your position or have the person your over lapping to sit for you. All about communication.

How can we adapt this one
@KSPerformance3 ай бұрын
Thanks for asking! Depending on skill level… - high skill: have the players keep the ball in the air - low/medium skill: have one player throw to each and they must volley back to server Hope that helps!
@Raverpirate3 ай бұрын
- amount of passes needed to continue - amount of touches allowed (else reset the pass count) - mandatory / free order of passing - order of the zones (e.g. 1 -> 3 -> 2 -> 4) - give zones names and coach calls the order in the beginning - size(s) of the zones - amount of players each team - distance (and size) of the goal(s) ... enough options for you? :)

Great drill. once they've got it, put 2 people in middle, start with a ball at 7 AND 9, and have a ball going on each side of the diamond, less people standing around while the ball goes around. Keep 2 players in middle for a few rotations, then switch them out

Look great drills but need to show where the players go after each cycle
@KSPerformance4 ай бұрын
Yeah normally the videos with have a rotation. Missed on this one! Though I'd rotate the players in a 'follow your pass' style as the easiest option for the first variation. For the other variations I'd recommend out wide > furthest from goal > closest from goal as a rotation, but use whatever works for your team! Hope that helps!

What size area do you recommend for end Zone drill?
@KSPerformance4 ай бұрын
Hey, really depends on age and amount of players on the team. But I'd recommend at least 20x20 middle zone with the end zone being 7 yards. I've also found starting with a bigger end zone (10-12 yards) gets the idea across - then progress to a smaller size (5-7 yards) to help dial in the accuracy and the timing of the run/pass. Hope that helps!

Thanks, I like this drill I will progress it for my more advanced boys by adding a wall player at two of the four-goal posts they can choose to take the player 1v1 or look to play 1-2 off the wall player.

This can be used for most age groups. I’d start with the basic pass and move for youngest (7/8 year olds) and save the more complex movement for a bit older!
