I found out about this guy two days ago randomly on KZbin(I'm European,baseball is non-existant here so my only source is the internet),I was frustrated about it even though we don't even get to watch baseball matches in Greece. I mean,the videos I've watched about his calls,the footage from games...it was obvious this guy was arrogant and selfish. And,anyway point is...two days later,I watch your video and he's getting retired? I can't imagine how you guys spent some 30 years of him being an MLB umpire.

When the Ohtani story first was reported, a friend of mine called to ask me about it since I am the guy that follows baseball. At that time I said, "no one knows much yet, BUT the machine is going to start up and spin this to make sure, no matter what, that Ohtani comes out OK because this guy is the new cornerstone of the sport". I do not know anything at all for certain because I am not at all involved. That being said, to say that a gentleman from Japan, who was educated in the Japanese culture, that is based in respect, humility, and loyalty, is so financially wealthy but yet so clueless to not see 17 million US dollars vanish (albeit over time) from his acounts seems a stretch. Ohtani recently said that he has begun to sleep better knowing that the Mizuhara stuff is in the past, sure is a sign of something. Now I wonder, how his sleep pattern has evolved. I predict that soon we will hear of an impending pregnancy to help distract the public eye from all of this. As most will admit, gambling is very addictive, like other vices. When your good friends get involved in a vice, many times one feels the need to join the crowd. No matter what the reality turns out to be, and I doubt that the public will never know the whole truth, I feel compassion for a man who truly loves what he does for a living and wants to display his best efforts every time he is on and off the field.

In San Diego Hosmer is considered the worst contact in team history. Padres paying him $14M for sitting at home. Another example of a player who balls his free agent year and once he got paid never approached the numbers.

Don't even get me started about the injuries to my Dodgers rotation. You mentioned May and Buehler, then there's also Gonsolin, Treinen, Graterol, Kershaw (of course!), and nervous about Hudson (he just came back from the IL). You're right, Casey, the human arm wasn't meant to move like that and these injuries are to be expected ---but why does this seem to be so much more prevalent throughout the league and in recent years? I always get bummed out when I hear about pitchers--nevermind who they play for--having to sit out for the rest of the season (or beyond) because of a major injury. Hopefully this trend will go away (somehow) soon.

It's wrong to blame the fans. New York baseball fans have always been tough. The Media in NY is probably tougher but that's just part of the territory this can't be an excuse for not performing well. I might agree with you that it's better not to boo your own players but the team has no control over that, it's not something that is changing anytime soon either. We know that is possible to succeed despite the environment so it's on them to figure this out it's the only way they can turn this around. We also know that there is no other fanbase that gives their players love the way NY fans do when they do succeed
@UnfilteredWithCaseyStern6 ай бұрын
I feel you on the environment in NY, and I get it. The reaction to guys like Lindor, who was terrific last year, a week into a season…that’s overboard for me. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t come with the territory though, that much in NY especially, is true

Preach, Casey, PREACH!! I grew up in Northern California and was a fan of the A's when I was a kid (80s and 90s). This is the absolute lowest point of this franchise. It's terribly sad what Fisher and co. have done to this team. Most A's fans loathe him and wish he'd sell the team already. Even Arte Moreno is a better owner than John Fisher, and I never thought id say that! :o

This Dodgers fan is very cautiously optimistic with this team roster. But, history has shown us that even the best teams with a stellar record during the regular season don't mean squat come playoffs time. It's all about the postseason for me and a lot of Dodgers fans now. I realize that it sounds smug and almost elitist, but year after year since about 2016--and with the exception of 2020, of course--we fans have had our hearts torn out come the postseason, for one reason or another. So, while I'm glad to see them off to a great start, I'm keeping quiet about celebrating too early. But my heart is always shouting, "Let's go Dodgers! 👏👏👏"
