GAIA's epitaph. ... In these times, many gods have died. The christian God is chief among them, as Nietzsche noted. GAIA, however, is still around. Fortunately. It is encouraging that GAIA is more appreciated recently. But also worrying. For we start loving her as we fear her disappearance. Death has not died yet. Yet death is not our main foe. It is that which can kill even death itself. Lovecraft dreamed of them. Physicists call them Entropy. I call them the eaters of Gods. It may already be too late to save GAIA. Fortunately, we still have a chance. Voltaire's maxim can be applied to GAIA as well. Terra-forming, the futurists call it. It would be a terrible thing to rely on. But it may be our only hope. The only way to avoid the end of the legend.

Swing your left arm more to the right and clip it towards your chest more to the right side. This will keep your shoulders in line with your hips and make the axis line straight while you're spinning. Hope this helps!

Hey Zesix thanks so much for featuring my game in your video :) I'm beyond ecstatic! and thank you for organizing this jam. It was super fun! About the player movement script - the one that's actually being used in the game is the one I made along side Rick in the Unity 2D Udemy course, so that probably explains why it's so good :D (I had to abandon the one I got from my twitter friend because of a bug, which turned out to be a tilemap collider issue). and with so much positive feedback, I think I will continue to develop this game further!
@guiraimondi4 жыл бұрын
Wow, I was pretty surprise that you made a video about my game. I found it funny that you dont believe it's my first time at game making / pixel art hahah, because it really is. :D My first contact was in the 2d GameDev.tv course and right after I finished it the jam was announced so it was perfect timing for me to get something done. I googled a lot about pixel art, game design and unity things since than, so the game is a sum up of a lot of love and googling haha, and I'm really happy that you liked it too! \o/ Oh and I dont have a background in art, I'm a backend developer so all I knew two months ago was coding, but I've always been a big fan of pixel art just never really tried it. I did remade the art a lot of times until I managed to get something I liked, I'll share with you a picture so that you can see how bad I was at the start hahaha. About the spike of difficuly I totally agree with you, I should have prepared the player better and I'll certainly do it in a future update (also give a better indication on the UI/visuals). Thanks for pointing that out! o/ About the spaghetti code I'm a little ashamed about that :s but there were somethings that'd been too time consuming for making it right and I wanted to get this working rather than making it nice (code wise) and there were others I didn't know how to implement in a game project, like dependency injection, good practices, etc. Some classes that I needed across all levels did use singleton pattern (forgot to do in the LevelLoader), they have the code in their Start function and further in development I realized I needed a generic singleton class rather than implementing it repetedly but forgot to go back and refactor the old ones to use it, that's why there is just one reference to it. I do plan to give the code a treat now that I have time to do so and I'd really appreciate if you could indicate some tutorials about good practices and more advanced topics in coding/Unity. Now that you mentioned it I think it'll be cool to do an article about how I've done it and what I learned in this two months of game development. I need to think how to put it together, but I'll keep you updated on it! It's been an incredible journey and I cant belive how much this jam experience made me grow! Thank you for all your work behind the scenes and for the kind words about my game. I did put a lot of love and dedication to make it happen!

i think the key problem could easily be fixed by making a smaller map inbetween the first and second map demonstrating the functionality of the key with a simple obstacle like the first level. like this the players would know what to expect everytime they collect the key :D
