I really want to warn potential buyers to think twice before purchasing condominium units in Sri Lanka due to the following reasons: ,,The current regulatory environment and governance issues pose significant risks to property investments. I am writing to express my concerns regarding the Mount Clifford Residence Condominium units I purchased in Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, I have encountered significant challenges due to recent regulatory changes and the lack of effective governance in the region. Sri Lanka is currently grappling with widespread political corruption. Laws frequently change, and there is a tendency for autonomous governance that can negatively impact property investments. After purchasing my condominium units, a new rule was introduced by the condominium board, prohibiting rentals for periods shorter than three months. This regulation has substantially devalued the condominium units. Despite multiple complaints to the condominium authority, no actions have been taken to address our concerns. It appears that the authorities are closely connected with the board, leading to a lack of impartiality and accountability. Consequently, many investors, including myself, are now stuck with our investments, unable to rent out our units flexibly or sell them at a reasonable value. I urge higher authorities to investigate this matter and take necessary actions to ensure fair treatment for property owners and investors in Sri Lanka. It is essential to establish a transparent and just regulatory environment to protect the interests of all stakeholders. Hence, as an investor, think twice before you purchase any condominium unit in Sri Lanka.

Beware of this fraudulent company. They have a brand in Srilanka under mypropertylk and took Rs 500,000 deposit for a project which was cancelled in 2018 and I’m still going after them for a refund. They keep telling me that the developer has not paid back the money. Developer said that they never received any funds on my behalf from them and when asked to prove they can’t produce any proof of a receipt. Please be very careful when doing business with this company.
