Dude I love what you’re doing but your camera work needs a little umm attention. Lol. It’s hard to see the closeups of the parts. Fantastic otherwise, I love how you said you have no idea what you’re doing, 😂😂 . Subscribed for sure.

Every time you throw and just drop stuff on the table I cringe 😬🫣😬 lol. Be careful dude. The current price on age of sail is just over $1,300.00.

At 7:40 in the video when you finished looking at the plans, there was what appeared to be all of the standing rigging but it didn’t look like there was anything for the running rigging. I guess we will see.

You’re voice has the sound of someone thinking “oh crap, what have I gotten myself and over $1,000 of my money into?” Lol. I can’t wait till I feel like that when I finally feel like I’m ready for that kit.

Is CalderCraft based in USA or overseas. May i ask how you ordered it. I got the 1:70 montanes from ageofsail and in California but they dont make the Victory for some strange reason

Where is C Craft based, USA? Was the kit about a Grand. I built the ocCre montanes 1:70 but kind of need a 1:70 Victory

Big ship. Do not throw out the extra frame wood. You will need it for filler on large models. Stay focused all the while that you are gluing. Its very easy to make a mistake. Good luck.

You have bit off way more then you can chew. Sorry to tell you ,that this ship is for a museum only build. I started a 200 scale ship of the line WASA and only got half way. Have patience that is the key to this big job. Good luck sir. FromOhio

How do you know what he is capable of? It’s not rocket science. As long as you take your time, do lots of research, and be prepared for mistakes and not get frustrated when they happen, it’s entirely doable. There is tons of online video content of this kind of model building compared to what it was like 40 years ago when I started, which was none obviously. My neighbor I grew up with got me into ship model building and he was really good, but he always discouraged me by saying things were too difficult for me and I wasn’t capable. In retrospect it was fueling his ego because he was a couple years older and knew I really looked up to him. His knocking me down set back my model building by years actually. He had me convinced I couldn’t do it so I gave up. It wasn’t until I was in my early 30’s that I tried again and I discovered he was full of it. Never discourage people my friend. It serves nobody any good. 😢

Holding stuff up close to your camera just puts them out of focus and is kind annoying sorry. Good luck for your build though.

Hi Chris, just binge watch the HMS Victory. Looks an awesome kit and loving you enhancement ideas. I’m just about to start the Heller 1:100 with all the Dafi etch etc. Next plan then is a wooden ship, Would love to have a bash at this but like you said the size is big don’t know where I would put it. Keep up the videos.

I am in the process of building HMS Sovereign of the Seas, based on the DeAgostini framework and am at the same point as yourself, except that the upper decks are not installed because I will be installing the grounding tackle before moving upward. Internal lighting will help you see the anchor handling equipment, capstans, ladders, and other internal details this deep in the hull via the gun ports, but admittedly you won't be able to see much without a magnification scope of some kind. Best of luck on your HMS Victory! That's a most popular ship.

John Aliprantis in part 5 of his Montanes build goes into a lot of detail about placing lights in the officers quarters etc. I know its a different ship but it might be helpful to you to see how he went about it.

I have seen it and will use his ideas thank you.

Are you going to install a proper 3rd level gun deck and place fully trucked guns on it? Dummy guns never look convincing to me. They look like a shortcut. I make extra gun carriages. They are not rigged being so hidden, but the visibility of the carriages makes a difference. If you rig soft interior LED lights, internal details deep down in the hull may be partially visible and add to the simulation if you peer in through the gun ports. I typically add things like capstan shafts, pumps, stanchions and deck supports, simulated interior framing, and other features to the level of detail that you can see them from certain angles as you peer into the side of the ship. Too much is a waste of effort, but with a ship as large as Victory, you may consider entirely furnished gallery rooms with furniture, visible through the windows with interior lights. Lots of planning to add, but so worth it. I am planning on gutting large portions of the interior of to add these sorts of details, once the planking is on the hull to take over support such that the internal skeleton can be removed and replaces by realistic looking framing.

I will be putting fully rigged guns at the cut outs I am creating.

You need a nice, strong keel vice to keep that false keel straight and avoid twist in the hull. Things can go very wrong this early!
@DARIVSARCHITECTVS3 жыл бұрын
Just getting started! Off we go! I just finished framing and balsa filling the hull on HMS Sovereign of the Seas, the older English 100 gunner from 1637. Speed in the killer of detail, neatness and accuracy. Add lots of scratch built additional features and a kit turns out SO much better.
