don’t forget that a lot of this was found out by trial and error with and against actual targets someone found out their armor didn’t work… another found out their shot didn’t work. both died

This is a bit wrong, higher velocities is how you beat sloped armor. It wouldn’t ricochet at higher velocities

OR, you can put stabilizing fins on a 1" thick rod of depleted uranium or tungsten, wrap it in a sabot so it can engage with the rifling of your tanks cannon, and fire THAT at enemy armor. A solid dart of tungsten moving at mach 2 will ruin any tank crew's day.
