Miranda Otto stole the very few scenes she was in. Love her in this movie and a cleverly written character. She is a very free-spirited, dare I say "horny" character but she has a sensitive and wise side, which you see when she notices Billie's discomfort and suggests they speak to Safety. The whole cast is incredible. I haven't seen the Swedish original yet, but this movie, even if it's different from the original, is still a fantastic dramedy.

It was only by chance that he ended up possessing the Annabelle doll in the films, even though he had previously avoided such a method. He is patient and strategic in identifying his victims. Given that Mr. Mullins is a doll maker, the doll serves as the perfect medium for a demon like Malthus. There was no reason for him to wait for another opportunity to rise again or seek a new target, or even to rely on his cult, the Disciples of Ram, to free him from hell. This was his chance to touch the earthly realm after he had been summoned due to human sins and destruction, which distorted nature and broke the veil between the worlds of humans and demons. This event allowed him to be free alongside his demonic companions, including Valak and other demons from the time of King Solomon in Jerusalem, over 2,300 years ago. He had been summoned throughout history, even in ancient Egypt, for various rituals-whether to cause harm or to invoke him for purposes of safety, success, or healing. Though not fully freed from hell, his opportunities grew significantly during Solomon's era. This means that Malthus carefully orchestrated the accident involving Bee Mullins. It's peculiar that this incident never sought justice against the person responsible for the accident. While this may seem trivial in the film, and perhaps a scene depicting a "lawsuit against the driver" could have been deemed unnecessary and cut, the director chose to omit this to maintain the film’s mysterious essence. It is evident that Malthus possesses the ability to manipulate objects or transportation. As Zack from CZ World pointed out in his video, my analysis indicates that Malthus is indeed responsible for the death of Bee Mullins. This strategic action targeted Esther, allowing Malthus to effectively progress through the phases of 'Investation' and subsequently 'Oppression. Malthus had been watching the young couple from 1928 to 1931 as they built a happy family, leading up to the tragic accident involving Bee in 1943. Their large, multi-story house on the outskirts of town, away from the hustle and bustle, reflects a common setting of the past. Demons are often drawn to tall, quiet, and eerie buildings, creating an environment that was favorable for Malthus. Despite this advantageous situation, and considering that Samuel was a doll maker, Malthus was selective and found no easier target than Esther Mullins. Samuel was too strong and brave for him, and little Bee, at just six years old, was too pure and difficult to manipulate. He needed to go through the "Investation" stage before proceeding to "Oppression" and ultimately "Possession." Many viewers and fans of this franchise mistakenly believe that Annabelle is the name of Bee. While Annabelle is indeed inspired by Bee, it is not her name, nickname, or even an abbreviation; her name is simply "Bee Mullins." Furthermore, and this is even more crucial to emphasize, some fans think that Bee's soul has been trapped and controlled by Malthus or that she is possessed by him. This is entirely incorrect and has been debunked. Bee has been in heaven since the beginning after her death, as she was an innocent child. Malthus took advantage of this situation during the "Oppressed" phase to exploit Esther by creating an illusion of Bee's soul and presence as a deception. He made the illusion of Bee a hostage or threat to her parents, especially Esther. If Malthus truly had Bee's soul bound, why would he need to kill her if she were his target? This reasoning simply does not align with what I mentioned earlier.

Yo, that scene totally got me, man! Gave me chills, especially that mirror part. My eyesight's kinda crap, so I couldn't really see what Mullins' wifey was seeing in the glass. But when I checked it out on my phone a few years later, after graduating in 2019, dude, it was way scarier! I first peeped this back in late 2017, like December or something. Chillin' with my buddies at our spot in the pesantren, Friday movie nights were always a vibe! Nothing beats a horror flick, but that scene? Had me up all night, even though my homies were knocked out in the same room.
