Much needed additional information in keeping transparency front and center for Highlands County citizens. Development planning for Highlands County in the residential, commercial, industrial could be displayed in the near months ahead and set a basis that ALL residents may understand, for the inevitable future residents that make HC their home. Attracting companies to locate in Highlands County is paramount for our young adults in acquiring future, higher paying, skilled labor employment. Agriculture sector employment is important, however, industrial and commercial employment could take off once leadership sets the course for productive planning and objectives.

I sometimes have to use my recycling can for trash! I leave the lid open so the driver can see it's trashed is this OK?

No. Garbage should go in the blue bin ONLY. If garbage is in your recycling bin, the hauler will not pick up your bin - and if they happen to then the entire recycling truck load has just been contaminated with the garbage put in your recycling bin,

Yogurt cups and plastic containers for cottage cheese, sour cream, etc. need to go in your garbage bin please. Thank you for asking!

That is correct. Dirty pizza boxes need to go in your blue garbage bin.

I live in a 55+ park community where there is no recycling. Any suggestions on how we can recycle? Could recycle drop off sites be places in shopping parking lots?

Hi Gayle! You will need to talk to your park management staff about establishing a commercial contract with Waste Collections.

@@highlandscountyboardofcoun6976 Thank you for your response. Our HOA has been trying. We're from NY, big recyclers. We used to take our recyclables to the bins at the LP Winn Dixie parking lot but now that's gone.

Great job! I'm looking forward to more of these educational videos. I do have a question that may be addressed in future videos. Are the plastic lids that come on fast-food drink cups recyclable? The ones that have an opening for the straw to go through. Thank you.
