Honestly, I think that if Scar just sneakily eliminated the hyenas after he was done with them (as dictated by the Rules for Rulers), and perhaps served them up as food, the pridelands wouldn't be quite so bad. I mean there would still be a terrible drought (probably due to the sky gods hating him), but hyenas eat A LOT. Especially considering they're better hunters then lions and there are more of them in a pack then len lions (up to 80, though this one has more. Probably due to racism from the lions) which would put massive pressure on the slready stressed ecosystem. So I don't believe he'd be a significantly worse dictator than the previous, not as beloved, more tyrannical, but stable enough that he could eliminate Simba were he ever to return. So ironically enough he died his extremely unreservedly brutal death partially due to too much empathy/honour. At least, too much for a dictatorial ruler anyways. Which the pride lands are by the way, I'd prefer NOT to live under EITHER Mufasa OR Scar OR Simba. They are all autocratic dictators who demand LIVING TRIBUTE from their subjects (Simba might not do the last one, but the question isn't if Simba stops eating their subjects, it's if EVERY SINGLE LION stops eating their subjects) for them and the other aristocracy.

Compared to real lions Scar is practically a saint. Furthermore he's much more attractive to actual lions than Mufasa due to his black hair and big tuft, which signals high levels of testosterone. Combine that with the fact he's much more relatable then high and mighty "benevolent" dictator Mufasa, is the most charismatic and is the underdog (Scar is simply a nickname everyone started to call him eventually) of the story, and you can easily see why I tend to root for him. Shame he wasn't as good at stabilizing power as he was at gaining it, then there would be enough food (probably a large part hyena meat since the Rules for Rulers dictate that you need to minimize the keys, and the hyenas were unnecessary after the coup, so sneakily eliminating them is the optimal move), and with enough food nobody would care about Simba returning (and he could be easily dealt with, Scar still nearly won in our timeline, which just makes me root for him more) and Scar wouldn't have died his extremely unreservedly brutal death.

While I love the Lion King, it’s probably Disney’s most inaccurate film. To start, hyenas are wildly smart creatures. A hyena specialist actually sued Disney essentially for slandering hyenas. He’s not wrong, they did hyenas dirty. Also, Scar. Dark manes are indicative of better health and higher testosterone, meaning that more than likely Scar would have been bigger than his Mufasa and would have been the breeding male. With Mufasa’s death, this would have also led to the immediate late-term abortion of all cubs, which means Nala would have been cancelled pretty quick and wouldn’t be around for the second half of the film. Especially given that Simba goes on to have almost no survival training, his return would result in Scar ending him almost immediately. Also, he would have bred Mufasa’s boo thang immediately. Imagine if the film went down like that 💀💀💀
