When I first heard the opening theme, recapped at 5:02, I was certain it was familiar from somewhere else - perhaps a popular song. Can anyone identify it? If it was original with Bortkiewicz, it alone would place him in the top rank of the romantics.

Музыка, конечно, интересная. Но, по-моему, партия оркестра чрезмерно симфонизирована композитором и подминает под себя функцию рояля. Диалог так до конца и не выстроен. Если бы автору пришло в голову оркестровать рояль, то вышла бы замечательная симфония. Но - что сделано, то сделано.
