@@ray29999 Explain what you're talking about brother You mean the IDU when you took off the caps that came from the factory to first install your line sets to the IDU the nitrogen was not in the IDU Or do you mean the line sets themselves did not have any nitrogen in them

@ray29999 Okay so that's another problem But you're going to do a nitrogen pressure test anyway So that will let you know if the nitrogen came out because there's a leak in the IDU And it could not hold the pressure because it has a small pinhole or something Or that just the caps themselves are fails So do your pressure testing You can use an analog gauge But don't go over 250 lb And you have to let it go a long time if you're going to use an analog gauge If you can find yourself a digital gauge or beg,borrow or steal one You can be done with a pressure test in a half an hour Because it shows incremental change And you can watch it tick down and know if there's a problem You can't do that with an analog gauge You have to let the pressure test go way longer with a analog gauge Keep me informed brother 😎😎 This is the gauge I use a.co/d/eQSEWRe

how would you do the nitrogen purge excluding the odu? I want to do my lineset and idu before I open the new odu
@Jonehughes
@Jonehughes Күн бұрын
The exact same way I show except the ODU is still sealed from the factory The valves that you open both the small line and the big line are still turned all the way in and that way you're just doing the line set and the IDU just exactly like a vacuum As a matter of fact as right before you do your vacuuming You're going to do a nitrogen pressure test And so the nitrogen purge really happens because the vacuum did not pan out at under 500 microns So the purge is necessary when that happens I think I made that clear but lots of times it's as clear as mud So feel free to ask for more clarification if I didn't make myself clear

@@Jonehughes thank you- I get (or at least think I get) how to do the nitrogen pressure check. Am I correct in understanding that the nitrogen purge is different, you unhook one line and push nitrogen through? My linesets were open for a few days while everything was being installed, wondering if the purge should happen before then pressure test. and yes, my ODU is new with valves still closed. tia

@@ray29999 Hey brother Yeah if I were you I would go ahead and just pressure test first Once the pressure test is done and you know it's not leaking Then do a vacuum I'll post my link to a vacuum But if you can maintain a vacuum then you don't need to do a purge If you can get your pump to pump down to let's say at least 200 microns And then when you stop the vacuum pump and you let it sit for 10 minutes That is the Decay test If it doesn't rise to over 500 in 10 minutes Then you passed That's the standard everybody uses Except me I pump down to 100 microns And then I pump it down 6 minutes longer than that I'm usually somewhere in the 50 to 60 range And then when I stop the pump After 10 minutes I don't expect it to go over 140 more than I stopped at So if I stop it at 60 I wouldn't want to go higher than 200 That's just because I want to know for sure everything's on the up and up But if you're holding under 500 microns and it's not ticking up little by little Then you're good to release the refrigerant If it turns out you cannot hold 500 microns in 10 minutes That's when you do a nitrogen purge And if I didn't make myself clear on the video You release the nitrogen from your nitrogen test so slowly that you're literally doing a purge as you release it and that's why I say do a vacuum right after you release your pressure from your nitrogen because that is a mini purge And your system will be very dried out from the slow release of nitrogen That it should pull and hold a good vacuum

Yeah there's no sense in spending 3200 dollars when a 650 dollar unit will work, as long as said unit will take a beating like the more expensive ones do. I've noticed that with something like, say drills, your mostly paying for the name, because I've had cheap ones like what Wal-Mart sells in the HART series and they've lasted for a long, long time, with tons of abuse. With HART you're paying less than half the price of Dewalt. Don't get me wrong I have Dewalts for my personal use and love them, but with employees that abuse equipment BEHIND MY BACK, they get to use the more inexpensive but sturdy cheaper models. For those who think you'll lose money in recharging all the time, I've tested them and they're all about the same. Dewalt is more powerful though, so when the guys run into something where they need power they have access to a Dewalt. But for most everyday work the inexpensive ones do the job just as good as the expensive ones.

Very good video. The only issue I have is that vacuuming a line is really about removing moisture. Moisture in the system, when combined with coolant will cause corrosion and an eventual leak. To do it correctly, you need a vacuum gauge to make sure you draw the moisture down to specification, usually less than 500 microns. Naturally, the vacuum also tests for a good seal. At the end of the day, the gauge used here along with 15 minutes holding a vacuum will never detect a small leak, so you could use a leak detector to increase your confidence that your system is leak proof.

That was a pain in the butt I had to watch the whole video over again to remember what you were talking about So towards the end of the video you can see that between the old drywall and the new drywall there's a little bit of a not flush area of the new drywall to the old drywall It looks more than it really was in real life it was probably 8 in to a quarter inch out but I use 3/8 in blobs of glue adhesive that the wall panels come with I use 40 or 50 per panel and in that area it would just be a blob so the part that was out of whack is lot less than 3/8 of an inch so the 3/8 of an inch blobs hold it perfectly I've had to tear these down before because they're supposed to be guaranteed for 20 years but a lot of my clients want a new one after 10 years or so and so I went up tearing them out and putting in a different color and different style for different things whatever The point is whenever I take them out the glue held up perfectly The walls held up perfectly so my system works great even ripping them out I'm able to give them to the salvation army has a second hand store and they sell a lot of my units as used but still viable anyway it should be perfectly level and flush like the way you're thinking and if you have that kind of an attitude that's perfect and you could actually spend the time and mud it all out perfectly and make everything just dialed in and perfect and then set your finished panel on it nothing wrong with that The people I was working for on this project didn't want to spend the extra money to get everything flushed out cuz normally I just take out all the drywall and put in OSB instead and use no drywall that way it's the strongest but they didn't want to pay for it so c'est la vie it turned out perfect❤🎉
