If Mr.Itoh Kitao, Legend man about Mr.Western Electric in Japan, would be quite surely glad to see this scene, who has been dead ten or twenty years. He was just the man of Western Electric Heart. He devoted all himself to the sounds of Western Electric. Never been married, he died in solitude.

Oh those western electric TV-2 tubes are great. Yikes, I have a TV-2 from 1918. I've been crazy and have tested it on my TV-7A/U, the damn thing still works and is strong to this day....

Looks like we got audio right the first time as a species. What is this? 110 year old speaker system for a movie theater? I've messed with Jensen speakers from the 30s and yes they also required about 400V on the coil to engage the magnet. I have a Magnovox from 1923 that requires a 6v battery to be connected to the coils.

I love that you are using the credenza horn with the 555! The horn was designed by western electric (I believe). Some of the horns in the large acoustic machines were metal and some people say they prefer the sound of those.
@westernelectricchannel
@westernelectricchannel 4 ай бұрын
After seeing the Credenza, Western Electric commissions Victorolla to produce 12a, 13a. So 12a, 13a will be installed in the first meteor movie theater. However, the production cost is so high that 15a made of plywood is widely distributed. There are fewer than 10 original 12a,13a worldwide.

Great sound!! Are the Victrola made for 555? Or you did the modification to the cabinets for matching the 555? Also which are the power amplifier’s tubes ? Excellent sound at all !!!!

영어 Victorola is originally a phonograph.I removed the furniture decoration on the outside, made an adapter, and used a 555. The vacuum tube of the power amplifier is an rca 50 type tube, which is 350(1930s). Both 250 and 350 are good.

Is that a fishing net for a koi pond? I would not entertain any further changes to speakers or electronics (it must be lonely at the top). The weakest link is probably the absence of diffusion. I'd replace that TV with an acoustically transparent projector screen that's covering a whole wall of quadratic diffusors. 2d near the ceiling and floor, and 3d in the middle. There are 5mm thick french cleats on amazon that can secure them to wall studs.

If I knew where these horns lived, I'd buy the house next door. I'd continue to drop in and listen until served with a restraining order. On an unrelated note, I was looking forward to seeing Silbatone in Munich 2024 but it was a tiny booth and some other vendor took their place.
