Thanks for letting me know. I use a dual PC setup to record gameplay and my gaming PC was sending video data with wrong color format Rec 2100 (PQ) instead of SDR, which caused the wrong colors and brightness.

Do that with open Lights or not dark room and both of them Straight , Also use a Fullscreen Bright Contend like Sky and Sea or Mountains not only Black Backgrounds .

You should have put the ips below, that would be much more fair. Because at an angle ips looks bad like that, but oled doesn't.

Maybe it’s your viewing angle or light/color settings but mine does not look like a gba SP like yours does in the video.

Yeah the LG looks like that while playing HDR content because brightness is cranked to max. It looks okay during regular desktop usage.

@ Best settings for me, Gamer 1 Black Stabilizer 45 Brightness 100 Contrast 84 Sharpness 40 Gamma Mode 3 Color Temp Custom rgb (41, 41, 41) DFC Off I also use a custom color profile I found a while back on some Chinese site. Ive compared it to every other profile i've found and it appears to be the best. Used to use the same color profile with my 34GK950F-B. KZbin deletes the link to the color profile but if you want it lmk

@ I used this to calibrate the brightness, dark levels, and color. there were a set of videos. went through each and adjusted the settings to make sure nothing was being crushed. Theres a few videos on the playlist. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpOWdIijbc9neqc

It all depends on the monitor size with the bezels, so basically the screen size of 16" itself should be fine if it has very thin bezels.

Shame that the Alienware costs double the LG here. I can find the LG for as low as 600€ but the Alienware goes for 1200€ at least. The OLED tech seems cool but not double cool

There are less expensive OLED monitors available. If it's worth the price that's totally up to you, all things considered I personally can't go back to IPS.

In reality the difference is not that big, also you take the lg in big angle and the oled in right angle. Are you kidding us ? Do this with the lights on and not in the dark.

IPS panels don't suffer with a mild angle like that. In person it looks bad when the screen is predominantly dark and has bright elements because the backlight needs to be raised and that causes the backlight and IPS bleed as seen in the video.

@ This may be the case with static images, but it doesn't really come into its own with moving shooters. You do the oled at an advantageous angle and in the dark. why not in a lighted room where ips can do better ? Personally, I never use my pc in the dark. I bought my LG from amazon for 605€ +20€ for an additional 3 year warranty. great picture and reaction for the money.

I highly doubt this would impact anything, but when you have your life wallpaper on front panel monitor, does it happen to impact performance when gaming? Like noticeable impact of any frame drops? I'm genuinely curious. Please let me know!

so i have the alienware oled but find the comparison kinda weird, i mean what is this for a bad ips panel or maybe settings? i had a dell ips before and it looked worlds better than this lg ips . nevertheless the qd oled panel is an absolute dream, finally uncompromising picture quality for pc people ;)

@@LeX9069The LG34GN850-B doesn't have local dimming so it bumps the brightness to max when playing HDR content, causing the backlight bleed seen in my video. The phone camera exaggerates the backlight bleed a little bit, but it is quite bad anyways. Try to play the same HDR video side by side with your IPS monitor on a relatively dark room.

I own the alienware aw34. Just wanted to say this comparison is a bit exaggerated because the lcd is at an angle.

Not really, it's an IPS panel that doesn't suffer from viewing angles like a VA or TN panel would do. However it may be indeed a bit exaggerated depending on how much dark the room is; on a totally dark room is pretty much like the video though due to the IPS glow and because the IPS panel needs to run at maximum brightness to present the HDR content.

Comparing oled to an IPS without an FALD backlight is just daft. One of them isn't a proper HDR monitor.

I'm just a guy that had an IPS monitor with HDR400 functionality for about 2 years comparing it with my new QD-OLED monitor. I purchased the IPS monitor for $1K and the QD-OLED for $1.3K. Why can't I compare my stuff? I'm not doing a product review or anything like that.
