Is that considered baroque that use of so much gold - that napoleon style? I just have fond memories because I was married there at 21 in 1983 before it's full glorious remodel & it only cost Daddy $250 for 3 hours use!! Unheard of these days we had ordourves & a band. But the best memory for me was the amazing grounds & statues & the secret garden.. the stone ship just off in the distance seemed a relic of loneliness but we took tons of outdoor pictures & the amazing the gazebo - such great memories for me it's a romantic place despite the sordid closet gays that longed to be themselves I assume the secret gardens hold many hidden tales - if only it could speak it's mysteries ❤😅

Interesting. I visited Vizcaya in the seventies when the courtyard was open to the sky.
@VizcayaMuseum2 ай бұрын
that's true! The couryard was originally open and was enclosed in in the 1980s to help protect the interiors and the collection from the elements through the installation of an HVAC system and hurricane-proof glass.

NOT TRUE. Anything that blocks sunlight harms plants. Plants need sunlight. Spanish moss not only blocks sunlight, it weighs down the limbs especially when it rains. Every drop of rain that is absorbed by the moss is a drop of water that the host plant does not get.

Before fossil fuels man burned wood for energy. Later coal freed up that wood for other purposes and made England energy independendent, because it was more efficient. That transformed the world to shift from agriculture to industrialization and now towards automation. The calories we consume may not be as nutritious as in the past. Mankind has become idle and even lazy. One could venture to say that while the past was difficult it was simple and the affects of climate change not as pronounced. Nevertheless, 4 billion people exist as a result of scientific breakthroughs from the Haber/Bosch method and successive Bioengineering of more compact dwarf plants that can handle the chemical inputs to coax plants to grow faster. Has it truly been beneficial?

I thought this was supposed to discuss some of the openly gay and not openly gay people in Deering’s social circles at Vizcaya? I didn’t hear much mention of that really. Seemed to be more of a generic panel discussion with little historical discussion of what went on at Vizcaya. Nothing wrong with that, but i was just a bit disappointed as i expected to hear more actual stories based on the historical research. History buff here as well!
