Thank you for posting your Hunt Camp Mail - one of the highlights at the end of each month. Awright! an appearance by Swamp Dog! Yeah, probably we don't need to see him too often, but it's good to know he's still out there. His joke reminded me of something: Know the difference between cowboy boots and engineer boots? Well, with cowby boots, all the bullshit is on the outside!

DD your story about the guy that was able to get back into hunting was a twin to mine! A drunk driver hit me head on at 60 mph they figure and I was going 30 when I hit him so you figure the combination speed😱 I was on the operating table 7 1/2 hours and had my total neck fused with an 8” inch plate in the back and a 6” inch plate behind my windpipe on the front of my spine😳 All held together with 29 screws into my spine. I am able to walk but I take lots of oxi and strong nerve meds and strong muscle relaxers so I can move around and even go hunting with my boys. My family has been around hunting our last 4 generation now and my father was even into the John Nosler partitions in the 50’s and 60’s when John and Bob had their store in Ashland oregon. Each day is a joy if you make it so! My father died from doing the things he like to do and that’s the way I am going too. I hunted the next day after I gave his funeral talk knowing that’s what he would have wanted. The last year he hunted he was on morphine and a catheter and you could hear him going through the forest sloshing pee bags and all sporting one of the first 30-378’s that came out. I am told that with my neck everytime I fire a rifle it might be my last I say bring it on and what a way to go🙌

Hi DD, Here’s a question. Do you really have relatives from Louisiana like cousin Swampy? As a 1/2 Cajun, born and raised on the bayous in S. Louisiana, I have to say Swampy’s accent is is pretty good. However his turn of phrase is what brings it home with realism. Swampy’s got the old & current local lingo too. And I don’t just mean the obvious stuff everyone on higher ground in the US learned through Troy and family on “Swamp People.” From previous videos you’ve shared some family ancestors through your grandfather’s side back to Idaho. Has the other side’s bloodline paddled up against the flow from the Big Muddy’s delta and crossed the continental divide to reach you? You must have a close friend or family connection to pull it off so well. Do tell.😁 Love your work, JD

🤣😂 I KNEW IT!! No one can be that good without the genes or listening to that accent from a parent growing up. I’m born in Lafayette, grew up in Baton Rouge, and now live in Oz after meeting an Aussie at LSU. My kids love to pay me out mimicking my accent in front of their friends and family here. Thanks for replying with an answer. Long Live SWAMPY and good hunting to all his kin!👍🏻

Great video! I love wildcat/improved cartriges and have rifles chambered in a variety of them. As far as fireforming virgin brass goes, not all of them can be formed that way. Ackley mentioned that the .25-35 Winchester Ackley Improved cannot be reliably formed in that way due to cases rupturing at the shoulder. I have experienced this in forming brass for my Martini Cadet rifle in .25-35 Improved. I simply run .30-30 Winchester brass through my .25 calibre neck sizer until it just chambers, forming a false shoulder. I do the same thing for forming my .30 Gibbs out of .35 Whelen brass. My .257 Roberts Ackley Improved and .30-40 Krag Ackley Improved fireform factory brass perfectly, as does my .300 H&H magnum Ackley Improved with .300 Weatherby brass.

I have an 1187 with " Special purpose magnum " etched in the receiver that I bought back in 1987 when they came out and it is still my go to gun for waterfowl and Turkey. And it always will be! It does everything a shotgun needs to do and never jams. I cant ask for more than that.
