An amazing machine, and it took me ages to remember it and the white building appeared in a hercule poirot episode. Nice video and sound.

When I was a lad in the mid to late seventies and living in Yorkshire close to the east coast mainline, the sight of Westerns was as rare as rocking horse droppings. Hence why they are my favourite loco. D1023 Western Fusilier at Paddington in '76 was the 1st one I saw. What a sight for an 11 year old!

There was a sale of various locos several of which were Class 37s. It was on the Net for everyone to read.

Fun fact, I never saw a single, original Brush 4 named locomotive during my trainspotting days in the mid to late 1960's or since then tbh.

1965 One sunny Sunday evening D1662 IKB arrived at Gloucester Eastgate Station, it looked brand new, pristine clean paintwork and BR staff were inspecting before departure with coaches. I took a B÷W picture on my old box camera, it is good. Considering IBK history around Bristol on rail and bridge history it could be saved for there? Please don't script it.

What a disgraceful waste of good locomotives. Someone give them a good home, these owners don't deserve to have them. I knew both in service, the 37 on the ICI hoppers out of Tunstead. If only I had money!

Some UK locos have been sold overseas…rather than being scrapped.

And, of course, somewhere to keep them?

I can’t understand, if they want to keep these locos and wagons , why not cover them up away from the elements.

A bit of rough and smooth there, I guess it all hinges on the price of scrap per tonne. Some are repairable though but no takers yet, keep ‘em sat if they’re not costing anything.
@Richard474844 ай бұрын
When is somebody going to put IKB out of its misery? The loco was withdrawn as life-expired in 1998 and has received hardly any attention since then, despite having a number of different owners, including DRS at one point. A while ago the current owner, Pioneer Diesels Limited, offered it for sale with the proviso it didn't go for scrap or spares. Obviously there were no takers. There have been a number of other "preserved" 47s which subsequently went for scrap (such as 47524) but I suspect the problem here is that no-one wants to be responsible for disposing of Class 47 royalty.

Absolutely ridiculous!! All those silly people risking their lives for a terrible steam locomotive. Sticking their arms over the platform not knowing if another train might come and hit them? 😂
