You tuck the long strap on that loop to hide it when you use your gold chain. I think it would look nicer. The long strap you can take apart and put through the loop.

I love the soft side trunk ! I have it in the black Leather with silver hardware and it’s so edgy and comfortable! If you can only keep one bag, I would keep the leather one ! So unique !
