NY Dolls have always reminded me of the West Village streets as a kid, bars like Ninth Circle where 15yo boys in drag would hold court and hurl insults back and forth while waiting for johns. My friend Randy Rhinestone who carried his wigs in a paper grocery bag was 86'd from a bar for throwing his platform shoes thru the window after the bartender told him "you look like the Mona Lisa on Ayds" (Ayds was a diet candy then). I know DJo isn't gay but this song really captures the nasty dagger-tongued style of that period.

Like a lot of UK kids in the 70's I bought a music paper (Melody Maker, Disc, Sounds, Record Mirror, New Musical Express) every week. The New York Dolls got plenty of coverage but it was difficult/impossible to get to actually hear unless you went to a live show, which was not possible for me aged 15. They were on TV once (The Old Grey Whistle Test) . I did get to see a very annoyed Johnny Thunders at the Lyceum Ballroom in London and bought '.So Alone'. Sadly Johnny was only going to end one way.

really wonder why there isnt better quality and full set list video for this… They pretty much only used it for snippets on the streets with no name music video

Interesting to see the actual live recording..Unfortunate that they dont have the whole set list apart from the audio-only video Ive seen.

I only listen to New York dolls when I miss my ex boyfriend who passed away in his “punk rock band” days. It always haunts you when an ex dies before you can say you’re sorry. I try to brainwash myself it was for the best I dumped him because I’d be dead right along with him. God pulled me away but it’s hard sometimes lol we were the perfect Sid and Nancy

It's hard, being in a codependent relationship has it highs and lows. Me and my partner have been together for 24 years I relapsed aged 22 about a year after we met. I was 16 when I got on the h, it took me two prison sentences to get clean and I stayed clean for two years. Then relapsed when I bumped Into an old friend who was selling. I brought two bags and jumped straight back in head first. 22 odd years later I'm still battling away. You did the right thing for yourself. Don't ever feel guilty. You just miss him that's all. It's sad hope you're well and. Happy these days

The interesting part, the guy who filmed this is very visible in the official video ( VEVO min 2:14 ), clearly the only one with a cam that day, on that specific side of the street, with that particular angle position

Gene Simmons said that you have no Sweet you have no Kiss . Well Sweet had their influence . You have no Sweet , you have no Motley Crue, Ratt, or Def Leppard . I say you have no New York Dolls you have no Ramones , no Kiss.
