Good thing you didn’t have EJ&E 666 leading, it probably would’ve hit one of those HotWheels or Matchbox trucks!

Tell me about the couplers ... I have seen some homemade rotary couplers, i can only assume that yours are also.
@emd6452

The middle sets are easy, fishing swivels, as they never get disconnected, the end cars are where the technical stuff is, a long shank coupler with the loop cut off, a small hole drilled through the end of the shank with a jewelers drill set..... It is then inserted through a round plastic tube and a small washer placed on the back with a pin inserted through the hole in the shank so the coupler can't slide out(I did try gluing it but that got messy, and not strong enough with the wieght of the train.... , the end cars are then modified to accept the round tube where the coupler pocket would be and glued into place, the coupler is free to turn 360 degrees.

Assuming the average coal car is 7.5 inches over the couplers, 62 ft of track roughly not including locomotives.

Looks amazing and works brilliantly, what couplings did you use for the ore wagons? Kadee?,
@emd6452
@emd6452 Жыл бұрын
The end couplers of each set of six cars are modified long shank eze mate couplers as they had to be cut and inserted into a tube that can rotate 270 degrees, The connections between the sets of six are a permanent connection using fishing swivels and can rotate 360 degrees.

emd 645.. you better check your rail at 9:00/11:07 as there is a major bump on the rail head... you can actually see both engines and cars lifting if you look close.... this is a nice clip on stalling engines due to load size, and the scenery is rather nice, but you gotta shit-can the soldering iron on the bridge as it really takes away from the realism you are trying to create. other than that, nice work !!!

Is that live coal you're using?
@emd6452
@emd6452 Жыл бұрын
It is real coal, but the loads are not loose, each car was lined with sandwich wrap then the load glued, once dried the load was pulled out, the sandwich wrap removed then the load dropped back into the car. The risk of a derailment on a train this long and the mess it would make at a train show on the people's modules is to great.
