I was somewhat trying this technique today from what I remembered seeing someone else do, and definitely need more practice with how to hold it. I'd lay stems at an angle, but then struggle to turn it without losing the spiral. Is the placement of the very first 3-4 stems the secret key? I will have to try again, using your hand position for those initial stems. Thank you for the video. Very beautiful.

Thank you! Try buying 30-40 stems of something easy like all mums or all roses and practice. Make sure your laying all of the stems in the same direction (either twards your body or away from your body). I do think it's more muscle memory than anything- keep practicing😉

Really nice! Can you tell me why some flowers and other yellow flowers lose their color. I typically press mine for several weeks and then they fade a few days to a few weeks. Do you use any spray after pressing them? Thank you!
@wildblossoms25 күн бұрын
Certain flowers fade more than others and I think it adds to the beauty of this art form. That being said try to dry/press your flowers slowly without brusing them. I use a room dehumidifier and check my presses every other day to switch out the sheets of paper. I've also heard of microwave techniques (using a specific press) that help to retain color but I've never tried this myself. Hoep this help!

If you are right handed and keep your bouquet in your left hand, you can have more room and air to your bouquet when you do your spiral other way round. Instead of sticking flowers towards yourself, tap your shoulder and then put it on LEFT SIDE of your bouquet instead of right side. 👍🏻🙂

I have my frames custom made by a local framing company. I'd recomend finding a framer in your area to discuss and create designs specifcally for your work.

I have my dry flowers and I have my picture frame, but they have plexiglass instead of glass. I tried before to glue flowers on with a dollar frame that fell apart. My question is when I glue the flowers on the frame do I put the glue on the front of the flower so it’s not on the outside.
@wildblossoms2 ай бұрын
Put the glue on the back of the flowers then stick them to the back piece of plexi glass. Hope this helps!

Where do you get your glass and frame?
@wildblossoms3 ай бұрын
I work with a local frame shop, they help source all of my materials and do the framing. I believe you can buy glass at your local craft or hardware store but I recomend working with a framing company. Hope this helps!

I'm in an online Basics of Floral Design course, and it's being a bit hard, because of it being online, and because our teacher is not the best at teaching. He's a professional florist, he obviously knows a lot, and he means well, but just doesn't really know how to teach. I've been tasked to design and sketch a bouquet using this spiral technique. I'm honestly not too sure how to start. This video kinda helped me get an idea, though. How do you know what flowers to place each twist? Thank you
@wildblossoms8 ай бұрын
Hello- glad you found my video helpful! It's important to create balance. Think of your bouquets as having different sides, if you place a certain flower, texture, or color to one side you should balance it on the opposite side. I usually save the greenery and line flowers for the outside of the bouquet, but not always. Try to work in odd numbers and create dimension by not placing everything at the same height. Try not to overthink it and don't be afraid to get wild! Hope this helps and feel free to get in touch if you need more help. Best Wishes, Elycia

Corn starch? What the hell! Packing tape??
@wildblossoms9 ай бұрын
In place of styrofoam packing peanuts, I use cornstarch packing peanuts a biodegradable product used for shipping delicate items. Packing tape is clear tape meant for sealing boxes, it can be found at any store with packaging materials.

Hello! Doesn't the paper with water run the risk of wetting the bouquet and leaving the flowers damp?
@wildblossoms10 ай бұрын
Hello and great question! A small bag is placed over the stems and wet eco-fresh wrap or paper towel, then secured in place with a rubber band. This process holds the moisture at the bottom of the bouquet's stems where you want it. It's very important to ship bouquets overnight so they're not sitting in boxes for days, creating the perfect environment for mold. Hope this helps and let me know if you have more questions.

Do you press the flowers yourself? If so how do you keep the bright colors
@wildblossoms Жыл бұрын
Yes, I do press flowers myself. Certian flowers hold color better than others. Faiding is part of the natural process although my work is framed in museum quality glass and I recomend not hanging art in direct sun. It's also helpful to have very fresh flowers.
