What cam did you use before, mopar brand? What caused the failure

Man I hope it held up. If you had lifter failure, the engine usually needs to be disassembled, cleaned, and have the bores/bearings inspected for scoring.

What caused it? Were you running the mds 6.4 cam out of the 2500’s also which lifters were you running?

Dealing with the same issue. Have about 40,000 miles on it, developed tick. More than regular oil changes, with Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer added. Doing another cam job. Adding hellcat oil pump to increase oil volume/pressure. Also, not using mopar cam

Mine does that from time to time I haven’t even done any real performance mods only shortys and intake

If everything else is stock then yes it will run fine without tune but it should be tuned to shift at 6200 rpm

Genuine Mopar Valve Springs P5160074 these are what I used with melling non mds lifters no ticking from them got 37,000 on it since I installed no issues

The springs don't require any shims that's why I went with them direct fit

I wouldn't run this cam in a 6 speed you loose bottom end torque but up to you and you should replace springs because of higher lift cam the oem springs are not rated for

This is a 8 speed with 392 gears

You don’t need the springs if you don’t increase the rpm, I’ve done it in 3 different vehicles kept the stock springs still is faster then stock

Should have a stall you only gain top end

Well speaking it basically cut the 0-60 to 4 seconds.. it’s probably worth it

@@Weld702 i went with a custom cam from Jay Greene and his tcm and ecu tune. More than happy with the extra 1k it cost.

All parts around 1000$ I did the install myself

Its a srt 6.4 non mds cam need to pull heads to replace lifters pull timing cover and lower oil pan took me a day to complete

Yes.. had it tuned after this but didn't seem to make much difference

Yes I installed non mds lifters if you get a mds 392 cam you can use your stock lifters can't use 392 springs I used mopar performance springs

I’m sorry I’m new to this cam world but I want to put the 392 camshaft I know there is two a regular mds and a non mds cam. You put the non mds cam? Do you happen to have the part numbers of what you put I want the same on mine thank you.

Cam-5037379BC. Springs-P5160074. Lifters-JBK-7521. Plus all gaskets and I did timing chain/guids also but not needed though

Also I went with the non mds cam it cost more but was told it makes more power

8 speed you need valve springs and it runs fine on green tune bump the shift points to 6200 didn't notice any difference with his cam tune tho

Far as I know you just need springs and you can run it without a tune wich is crazy need mds cam is needed
