Another important point: weight and ''wiggle'' do a lot in combat. You just cannot deflect a Calimacil with an Epic Armoury, the blow will go right through. But all brands have some weapons that ''wiggle'' hard when hit: harder to control, chain moves, but it's less impactful on the receiving end and the flexibility makes it more durable. While some are ''harder'' hitting, way more fun to use but if it has any length to it be careful not to hit too hard.

Other than that , I personally suggest plastidip one gallon cans for automotive. Then color it . That's my professional opinion and advice

Im reposting this for anyone who wants to know more so leave a like so i know to respond. The measurement methods work. I trick for outfit width if you dont want the side gores. Measure youre chest in inches and add 10cm on. This allowd you to have more free range. The gussets on the sleeves are a must unliss you make the width of the sleeves longer by 5cm to 10cm. For fabrics look for a natural linen or a repurposed loose weave cloth that looks vintage. The tunic doesnt need to be detailed as its the undergarment were youll wear cotes and other pieecs over them. I have a few made pieecs for summer wear out of linen and ive never felt so relaxed in my life. I have a channel were im going to make both pattern constructions and how to make videos called phoenix cycle fabrics. It has this logo but without the gear.

Measurements list Chest inhaled plus 10cm Shoulder to waist Shoulder to hand Hand circumstance Shoulder width Gussets usually 10cm squares Gore's can be optional if lets say you want the chest to fit more and the waist is wider then that. These are measurement I use when I've made pieces and they've worked for me. Best to make a toile first with calico or other scrap fabric close to your final one then see If it needs altering. Neck shape depends on what you're after but for toiles I advice to cut a line down 10cm to 15cm then draw out a curve on both front and back to make the final neckshape, or use a block to make an initial shape.

Where can I find good materials for tunics cloaks pants boots gloves and gauntlets. I want to make a medieval ranger clan with some people are outfits are going to be dark green moss cloaks and green grass tunics brown gauntlets gloves and boots pants. I love brown and green forest outfits. are clan will live in the woods we don't build buildings we make underground homes or cave homes.

Depends what you're after. Linen I'd one I use alot for warm climates but if you are in colder look for a cotton. But outer go for a wool. I make these amd I'm a costume designer who primarily looks at these eras clothing. If you buy the medieval tailors assistant it offers great advice and pattern instructions. I own it myself and has helped me with pieces

DIY foam weapons is also my preference. But the check group or event rules goes double here. I've noted that rules for DIY foam weapons tend to fall in 3 clusters: - PVC pipe core and heavier padding, found mostly ib the US. - fiberglass cores and more modest padding. - no DIY weapons allowed, commercial only. I've seen one group that allows any of the above types, but allows commercially made weapons that fall far short of the PVC diy padding standard, and is vague on fiberglass core standards.

So we use the same bands for the cannon as we do for the ammo for the guns. It's just like a big slingshot inside a pipe. The ammo that we use for the cannon is 10cm of pool noodles with a tennis ball taped to the top and then all wrapped up in duct tape. We also oil the barrel or use silicon spray to lubricate it.

Thanks for the feedback! So for second-hand gear, I use a Facebook group "LARP Sell, Swap, Buy Australia", but also some LARPs will have market days and people will bring the gear they want to sell off, Swordcraft Melbourne had one a few weeks back. For new gear of science and swords is your best bet. They also normally have a stall at Swordcraft Melbourne's Friday night game. My advice is to go slow on getting gear there is loaner gear you can use until you really know what you want, I wasted a bit of cash haha. Also if you see me around feel free to say hi :)

This has always seemed a weird place to draw the line. Sure fake swords are fine, but armor has to be real. It's ok to wear garb that has been machine stitched, but aluminium instead of steel is all wrong. I've never quite been sure why there is a hardcore devotion to real armors when everything else is fake. If you are doing re-inactment instead of LARP, sure, I get that, but otherwise the boundary seems so arbitrary.

@@whaddonutube well, plastic and aluminium armor stand out like a orange warning west in a goth disco. the same goes for super light larp armor pieces, wich bend and dent easily. Cheap Larp Armor (also the ones from Mytholon, in german they are nicknamed Mülltholon -> Müll = Trash) wears bad and looks bad. Look at a cheap larp plate armor and compare it to a proper one worn. you immediately see the differences, the cheap one sits bad, does not fit properly, does not have articulations, often hip and waist are really badly cut and hinder movement, the chestplate is too wide etc etc. you immediately see that cheap armor is cheap. when you want to wear full plate and want to look good in full plate.... that needs a proper investment
@whaddonutube
@whaddonutube 6 ай бұрын
@@zhufortheimpaler4041 First, where some armors stand out as poor, not all. Foam armors, aluminium chainmail, etc. can all look pretty great, especially in fantasy stetings, but the rules of most games I've ever seen talk about materials, not looks. Second, I'm not sure that answers the issue. Boffers in LARP can look like nothing more than black or red sticks, but in those same games they require real steel plate for full armor points.

Everything here is good advice but from someone who has done both a lot of larp and taught karate for over a decade... 1. Never make your own weapon 2. Sword and Board (sword and shield) is meta (best) always in combat 3. Want a fancy pole arm? A "cheaper wooden foam stick" from the same company eg calimacil will do the same thing in combat. 4. Daggers are fancy they do Frick all in combat 5. Dual wielding is for people who can ACTUALLY swordfight
