I was Goat and Sharon’s best friend when they lived in Ft. Lauderdale in 92’ when he ran for President with Joe Walsh. I met Sharon on the beach alone. She was just out walking and enjoying the night. We started talking and I told her I was a guitar player from the Mississippi Delta and she told me all about her husband “Goat”. At first I thought she was crazy because of all his life experiences she was telling me about. After about 20 mins, she asks me if I want to meet Goat while telling me that Willie Nelson may be at their house when we got there. Again, I thought she was crazy, but when I got there to their house, Willie wasn’t there, but his manager was. Goat started handing me all these “vote Goat we want our money back” campaign buttons and shirts and preceded to rant about government wasteful spending!! I was 20 years old and had been playing bars and festivals for 4 years at this time and had done a few sideman gigs with some old blues legends. When Goat learned I grew up next door to Frank Frost and the Sonny Boy Williamson set, he just took me right under his wing. From that night I met Sharon in the beach forward, I’ll never forget. Those two people were the sweetest most soulful people you could ever meet. Goat had a one of a kind personality that shined like a million suns. I still have the amp he played harp through when we were jamming down there in Florida together. I think about them all the time and I miss them very much. He lived the most amazing life. God bless them infinity 🙏

Just found out that most Africans in Louisiana tend to be of Kongo origins the most. Big up all the BaKongos in Louisiana. 🇦🇴🇨🇩🇨🇬🇬🇦KONGO!!! Big respect to you guys. Even other African Americans don't realise they have origins from Bakongos and other bantu ethnic groups in Cameroon 🇨🇲 Bantu to the world 💯

You do not play like this to children. If it's to complicated they'll think jazz is nonsense and will give up listening.

My now 28 year old heard Jazz Music by Dr. White for the 1st time at 4 years old and fell in LOVE. Music especially Jazz music has been a Huge part of his life since!!! It has provided him with scholarships and experiences from playing at Carnegie Hall to playing in England and Ireland. So I disagree with your statement. You SHOULD "play like this to children".
@janAlekantuwa Жыл бұрын
I'd say this is the perfect style for playing to children! This tune is highly melodic, straightforward, relaxed, and playful. The melody is tonal, the chords are only triads and sevenths, and the trumpet holds down the melody while the clarinet and trombone add some nice color with their improvisational harmony

Who is doing this interview? The subject matter is how he met Sam Cooke? The interviewer does not know about Sam's affiliation with the Legendary Gospel Group the Soul Stirrers. Whow!

Harold grew up and performed in New Orleans then moved to Los Angeles. He was familiar with the people he mentioned Lloyd Price and Little Richard. These were Specialty Record Artists. The story of Sam Cooke began for Harold that day he met him in Los Angeles. He was unaware of his accomplishments in Gospel Music prior to their meeting. Music was much more regional at that point in time.
