Yes! Those should be mono headphone jacks and are much easier to use than stereo jacks with 3 cords. Here is a link to some I use a.co/d/74agosY

Thank you for this tutorial. FYI you can use your soldering iron to create the holes rather than a drill. You’ll need the clean the iron with brass cleaning wire first, so that it makes a nice hole.

My friend and I have made a few of these. I notice on some sides the top seems to catch on the side rather than activating the switch. We have not printed with supports or the exactly specifications of the print you suggested on the video. Do you think that may resolve our issue? So that will be my next trouble shooting. I will check to see if it catches closer to the attaching parts. I love the design. The internal switch is so easy to get, so I'm hoping to make many. I just need to figure out what the printer is doing that makes yours works so nicely and mine not :).

I know this wasn’t what you had in mind with this video, but you did help me disconnect the speaker in this toy so my son can enjoy the ball popping without the obnoxious noises. TBF, it does make it more accessible for two neurodivergent parents who get overstimulated easily 😁

We don’t currently have a solution for that, but it’s something we can explore in the future. In the meantime, you may want to check out our 3D-printed switch files available on our website, www.switchedtoys.org. While it doesn’t offer the same features as the Candy Corn switch, it only requires a very slight amount of force to activate.

I would recommend a printer from Bambu Labs especially if you don’t have a lot of experience with 3D printing. Something like the A1 Mini is perfect for small prints like our button.

I don’t believe the Curious George Jack in a Box can be adapted. If it’s the one I found on Amazon it looks like it is a completely mechanical toy with no electronic components to adapt.

Hi I like this toy. BUT I would warn this toy can cause seizure. As a pediatric vision therapist, I don’t recommend using it with medically fragile students with history of seizures.

This is an interesting scenario where you have to choose between what to adapt. Curious, would there be a more complex way to adapt it to still choose an option? Great tutorial 😊

I don't think any other options that would allow you to select which sound it will make unless you were to adapt each individual disk. When the lever is pulled, the unadapted toy selects an option by mechanically pressing one of the buttons on that ring. So unless you rigged up some way to pull the lever, we are stuck adapting the individual disks. I felt like the music note did the most compared to the other options. That is why I adapted that one but you could adapt any of the other buttons the exact same way that I did in the video.

Good question. While there may be some slight differences between these versions the internals should be very similar. I think you should be able to use this video to adapt the older versions.
