Little wind when you said the moon was rising, but why didn't you have your jib or spin out? If you are racing you have to be ready to go as soon as a light breeze comes along. When you very light wind you have to heal the boat leeward, to keep the sail shape mate! Why is the traveler car always in the centre of the traveler track? Why are you going wing-on-wing? Don't you have a spinnaker? Flying your ensign creates drag on the boat and flying it during a race is a sign that you have quit racing. Should you have it down? You should not be stearing straight down waves. You should surf, like a surfer on the wave and when you lose it, then stear back on course. Hand stearing is the only way to go in those kind of seas. Contact lenses? Bad idea. Use regular glasses with transition lenses, which turn into sun glasses. Have a spare pair and wear a band around your head to keep them on. No sails up? really? Is this a race or are you just cruising? No symetrical spin? You need a big sun hat mate. Oh... I see you have a good hat near the end of the film. As Jimmy says, "Cheese burger in paridise!"

Honest story, when a man made a dream come true, starting to to build a boat and crossing an ocean with it, very inspiring.

just today i discovered this type of boat and the rules of this class. I have to say that the spirit of this class is extremely fascinating and i have a great envy and respect for those like you who have managed to accomplish such a feat (even with all the problems and so on). I was wondering what speed a boat of this type can reach in various conditions

The use of acorn nuts is nice for those through bolted items. What you might consider in hindsight is T-nuts. Not as pretty but, they will be essentially flush instead of protruding. I'm sure that you can find them in stainless steel. The downside is you don't get the same diameter as a fender washer.

I am a professional mariner. On dark nights it’s not unusual for most electronic devices to blind you. What I do is buy temporary window tint. It’s easy to cut a piece to fit the window on the radio, AIS chart plotter or anything else and put it on and off as needed.

What is the procedure/security/protocol around going overboard? Do you carry some sort of signaling device on your person? I'm picturing a rogue wave knocking me overboard. Is that just game over?

Whatever they tell you about scottish weather, it's bullshit, just shitty information. I used to think it was true until I experienced other parts of the UK and continent and realised that, actually, Scotland does rather well. At rugby too apparently.🤭 Quite a good video though, apart from the moaning😒

He's clearly very clever, but all that electronics and we don't even know what it does to the biology of our bodies during waking hours, let alone on top of us while sleeping. Further he has the AIS antenna pointed down toward his body.

Great job and great video, don’t need to apologize for it at all in the description. Congratulations on your first transatlantic. I like these boats, the a cabin looks quite spacious considering the length. A lot of people seem to use jetboil stoves. How long does a cylinder last on a trip like this? Can you share how much you spent on the dried meals… what else did you eat? I can imagine getting tired of them quite quickly.

Nice boat, boat would be a swear word to a yacht mens, certainly looks bigger than than 3'3" yacht. Wonder why you don't carry expansion foam, just in case you start sinking, hopefully not but could fill Ur forward cabin and aft cabin or all ur cabin. U could mount the expansion foam cans in the cabins. Then Ur never lose Ur pride and joy. Have a safe journey God bless ❤️

In 9th Century AD the Romans gave an ultimatum to the Mauritanians to surrender all the king's treasury and submit to their tyranny. They were freedom loving people and chose to take all the $ they had and build ships. They knew the Romans called the high seas "the pasture of fools", so they know Rome wouldn't pursue them. They crossed the Atlantic, went up the Misssissippi River and settled. Roman coins and Mauritanian artifacts were found there.
