Of all the countries with Iberian colonized pasts the Philippines is a standout for wearing it's emotions on its sleeves because unlike our Spanish colonized cousins in Latin America we endured a period were we also experienced early American Imperialism forced onto us when we thought we broke free of the yoke of the spanish...so some of those toxic traits also come from a place of misguided reverence and inferiority towards our American colonizers mix that with some of the worst habits we got from the Spanish and of course there will be generations that will have experienced high levels of trauma and psychological horrors.

Why I don't like Filipino TV and movies? Newer tv shows and movies feels like a derivative of something famous internationally or 10 years ago. We have 113.9 million people and majority of them would have an interesting story. Diaspora Filipinos are also unheard in Filipino media, they have stories about living a double life because some of them are not accepted by either cultures they identify as. stop with the cliches

I agree, not to bash our culture pero tama ka. I am proud to be Pilipino. However, we should acknowledge yung flaws natin. This topic is "always the elephant in the room." Minsan if I mention ito sa mga relatives at friends ko, most of them becomes defensive, they response na "Akala mo kung sino kang perfect". Ginawa akong bank at retirement fund ng parents ko. Still am. Wala nman kc choice kc old na sila na walang pension or savings and stuff. They put me through school until 1st year college. So, parang ayun, I have to pay it back. 😬 So, my sweldo still goes to the family expenses and I don't have savings myself. Filipino film industry be like: Why are you all not supporting locals!? Bruh, y'all don't give too much effort on all of your films, you have to give your soul into your films in order to give it life! Why can't they just focus on one film and put all of there effort and budget to it instead of making allot of useless repeated projects. (I'm not saying that they should only make a one teleserye and aired it hahaha just saying that they don't have to make allot of it with just repeated plot) We are all evolve everyday, and allot of people are becoming aware on how bad they are especially teenagers that has a good taste. If I were them I will make 5 teleseryes, and only focus to that with unique or different genre from one another.
