I am also on and off violin and SUZUKI method also helps me a lot. and as I keep returning to the early pieces now I have fuller information. this piece is Chorale Cantata "Ach, lieben Christen seid getrust" BWV 114 (BCA 139) written in 1724. The opus is from his second cantata cycle, when he was Thomaskantor in Leipzig based on a hymn of penitence by Johannes Gigas (1561). i just wanted to add, as i found i researched for it although not very clear, people will find it easier to retrieve. it was a painstaking effort and yet there are ones i couldn't identify.

It is the Gavotte Suite and the third movement written ca. 1705. The opus is comprised of 8 movements. (i) ouverture, (ii) aria, (iii) gavotte en rondeau, (iv) bourrée, (v) menuet I, (vi) menuet II, (vii) menuet III, (gigue) but even this way it is a bit confusing. the seventh piece that should be. i just wanted to add, as i found i researched for it although not very clear, people will find it easier to retrieve. it was a painstaking effort and yet there are ones i couldn't identify.

When playing the scale, do you place the 4th before you lift the 3rd? It looks like to place the 4th before you finish playing the 3rd.

Great presentation, except I wonder, "Should a Book #1 student really be playing with vibrato?" Or, are you doing it just out of habit? The mark of a good teacher is the willingness to play a student piece at the performance level that the student is expected to play, not what the teacher can play. How else is the student expected to know how their performance should sound? Violin teachers who cannot stop themselves from doing vibrato and piano teachers who cannot keep their foot off the damper pedal or stop themselves from inserting trills into such pieces as Bach's Minuet in G are typical offenders. It's one of the biggest turn offs. I've always been impressed with your earlier videos for you NOT using vibrato. Why are you doing it this time? I think it's really inappropriate at this level.
