Man, Theo Peoples also confirmed the same thing about Otis replacing Melvin way before he died and was sad as hell about it til the day he died. So if two different people sayin the same thing, Mr. OG Otis maybe is pretty messed up for this kind of thing after all. What a prick. Miss you Mr. Edwards!

I could’ve listened to Mr. Edwards talk for 2 hours. His side of stuff is more interesting than what they put in the film. Otis Williams had to stay in the group cuz he was NEVER a showman. He had to keep the group together. The biggest iconic song by the group of all time was sung by David Ruffin, “My Girl”. Their first official hit was sung by Eddie Kendricks, their first Grammy winning song was sung by Dennis Edwards. ‘Nuff Said.

Both interpretations of this beautiful song have something great about them, The lead vocal on the Spinners is fantastic, but the group sound on the O'Jays is great. On the rare soul scene in the UK there's a version that became popular. It's by Stage IV on the Millie label. The 45 is from 1971 and has an address in New York but maybe it wasn't recorded there? I think the idea of doing KZbin comparisons between various versions is a great idea, especially less well known songs like this one. There's plenty of examples from the Jobete catalogue, but all the prolific songwriters from the 60's and 70's had their songs covered by multiple artists. I think this is a deep mine for you to work, best of luck !!!

There were several great vocal groups back in the day! The dramatics VS the Dells was a great album with LJ Reynolds’s song Doors to your Heart being released. But what I really wanted to witness and hear was Harold Melvin and the Blue notes VS the Dells now that would have been a serious battle. Teddy Pendergrass going up against Marvin Jr lead singer from the dells. I would have paid money to see that battle.

I wished that this reunion lineup could have stayed together longer but LJ and Wee Gee were both lead singers and only one could have stayed. Besides Lenny could handle some of Wee Gee notes. Love them all ❤

Our beloved Classic Four have departed and we love them still. With that said, Dr. Otis Williams and all the TEMPTS that came on board the TEMPTING TEMPTATIONS TEAM...are beloved treasures as well. Read their stories, hear Their voices and give them their due and their flowers while they live. Otherwise, when they are gone; we'll be moaning like we are over David, Melvin, Paul, Eddie, Ali, Richard, Dennis and all the rest that's gone. GOD doesn't make mistakes and GOD doesn't make duplicates. TEMPTATIONS' FANS 🌹FOREVER LOVE.
