great videos i have been digging through the channel , i cant help but mention that oil looks very contaminated ,sure youve recently done repairs and replaced bit might be worth trying to install an additional filter to thee system
@V4XEN
@V4XEN 2 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. Yes the oil is a bit contaminated... The hydraulic rams hold a bit more oil in them when they are pressed in, than I thought they would, plus the hydraulic hoses to add to it. So next time I change the oil I will remove and drain out all of those as well, to eliminate contamination. I might change the original filter first and if that doesn't do enough then maybe try a secondary..👍🏼

Hi, the fuel tap with the primer button is what I think is best. The diesel line could be routed many different ways mine just seemed to fit where it is when I put it together. Nice work! Do you have a working differential lock pedal for the deep mud? For some reason all the Dextas & Superdextas I've seen (& the two I own) have had the diff lock pedal/damper removed -- I've always wondered why.
@V4XEN
@V4XEN Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, I do have a working differential lock. I probably would have gotten myself stuck hundreds of times if mine was missing. That's interesting to hear about how all of the Dextas and Superdextas that you have come across/own to have that missing. I could understand how the link there could be broken if the tread plate has rusted out and been removed, as when that is missing there is nothing there to stop the peddle and the weight could become too much for the link, causing it to break. I say this as I have currently got my tread plate removed and have experienced using the diff lock peddle engage and then feeling my weight being supported by such a small connecting rod. When this occurred, I realised how easy it would be to break it when this happens. Not sure if that is what occurred on the other Dextas, but made me cautious of my own. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
@davidhaywood8029
@davidhaywood8029 Жыл бұрын
@@V4XENThanks for the helpful reply! I'm on the Canterbury plains so perhaps the flatness & the generally sandy/stony soil make the differential lock less essential. I'd wondered if they'd resulted in broken differentials or something, and that's why they'd been removed, but your explanation makes much more sense. Mystery solved, I think!

On the older dextas (not new performance) with the pneumatic governor, if the lift pump diaphragm goes the diesel will drip from the bottom of the injection pump through the pipe with the loop in it, it shouldn't get to the sump and definitely won't get into the cylinders. I don't know if this is the same as the later mechanical pumps as fitted to the super dexta and new performance dexta. I can't think how it would though as the lift pump is mounted on, and driven by the injection pump and there isn't a direct connection to the sump, other than it going via the timing cover.
@V4XEN
@V4XEN Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your experience! My thoughts are the same. Since having this happen and uploading this video, I have not had it happen again. I am currently working on a more permanent solution to replace the temporary one I came up with in this video. Cheers!

I had the same issue with my dexta causing a hydro lock. I fixed it by taking the glow plug out then using a big screwdriver to crank the engine backwards at the starter ring through the small timing inspection cover. the diesel went out the way it went in but running out the glow plug hole. Now I always turn the diesel off at the tank tap when idle. Mine has a spring and ball bearing assembly at the spray nozzle which didn't do it's job. I've tried four of the nozzles with the small valve and every one has leaked. I've also tried fitting a clack valve on the 3/16" pipe the runs from the tank valve up to the heater valve. The spring was initially way too strong so i chopped it down until it seemed to be letting pressurised diesel past. The issue now is that the diesel loses pressure at the clack valve and no longer sprays onto the glow plug, it's more of a stream so it doesn't start as quickly and need the starter/charger to give it a boost in colder weather. I'd be interested to know if the Agriline valve/nozzle leaks. the ones i got were from APUK and my assumption was the all came from the same factory so would all leak.

@V4XEN
@V4XEN Жыл бұрын
Hi, Thanks! If you haven't already, I would start by pulling apart and scrubbing clean the brake shoes and drum with petrol or brake cleaner. Once they are dry, reassemble and if still not working right, try adjusting the rear arm a couple of teeth on the hub. This should help if your brake shoes are getting low and are running out of adjustment on your cables. Let me know how you get on!

@V4XEN

Hi, interesting... I do recommend the user manual amount. However, you may need to drain the oil out then remove the side cover and check that it has all come out. Some time's the oil can turn into a jelly like goop and won't come out when drained. Let me know how you get on!

Not sure why you figured that tightening the shaft but would effect the engagement of clutch shoes and drum??? ATF fluid is recommended fluid for clutch side case...did I miss the part where the shoes and drum are removed and either cleaned up or washers packs replaced with coil spring kit??
