Interestingly, all Beatles but John come from a working class background, and people who come from such background usually have a thicker accent. John was raised by his aunt, who was married to a middle class man called George Smith, even though his aunt herself came from a working class family. Still, it seems John's accent is more noticeable than Paul's, when it should have been the opposite.

maybe a case of the more well off john trying to appear more modest and the more modest paul trying to appear more well off haha

That's why John did artsy fartsy hippie stuff, and Paul carried on with a serious career and became a billionaire, despite getting screwed over by Yoko and Michael Jackson.
@finckel26822 ай бұрын
@@Alfred5555 About Yoko Ono, I agree. About Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney was too hesitant to buy the rights to his own material. Michael Jackson was a Beatles fan, so he obviously wouldn't lose the opportunity to buy the rights of their songs. I am not defending either, but had Paul (who was a millionaire by then) done it earlier, they wouldn't have had this issue.

Reading your comment while I'm searching for examples of Lennon's Scouse accent, and I have just watched an interview from late 70's, where his accent is more American-like. So ye, indeed.
