All the instruments and the voices were recorded into one single track. I don't know why they decided to do that when they had all the resources they wanted. EMI never denied giving them what they wanted to complete their albums. I guess they were lazy at the end.

Paul notes on the bass from 5:55 to 5:57 went totally out of tune, but, only because it was isolated, it was the first time I could notice!

“Ticket To Ride” is definitely in my Top Ten Beatles’ songs list. It’s the one Lennon-penned song that I equate to McCartney’s “Penny Lane” in that it’s a pop tune that I could listen to a thousand times in a week. And by the end of that week, if I only had two choices given to me to either listen to it a thousand more times the following week, or to be given a pill that I was told would “un-alive” myself in the most painless and peaceful way possible, I’d choose to listen to the song a thousand times more by the end of the following week.

This may be the most perfect song ever written and performed. It’s so unique. Every note following the first could have no alternative. The drumming is imaginative and soulful, the harmonies stirring, the baseline iconic. Their talents conflate to achieve the pinnacle of songwriting.

Ringo's drumming was absolutely brilliant!, not just the solo alone but throughout the entire Abbey Road album right to the end!

Definitely “Rye”. You don’t hear a “d” at the end of it. Rye is a town in Sussex southeast of London.

I also heard them say that part of the reason why they got rid of Pete best was that his timing wasn't that great. He would speed up and slow down and he was all over the place compared to Ringo whose timing is just rock solid

It's a great way to experience Ringo's rock solid timing. He's a human metronome with perfect timing.

Del Shannon always explained with studio drummers that he was looking for a Ringo style. Don’t over play, keep the beat and add nice fills when needed.

I wish McCartney would come clean one of these days and confirm the real title was 'TICKET TO RYE' and confirm all the stories the Capitol Records, when issuing the single in the US, thought they said Ticket To Ride.

Read Ian MacDonald's book "Revolution In The Head" about the complete in-studio recording history of all their songs. He found that Ringo only messed up about 10 times in recording. Baring in mind The Beatles could do scores of takes for an individual song. The other 3 made a lot more errors.

At 14:13 John's guitar is cut from the mix. Then it's back again at 14:37. Such an interesting arrangement decision. They probably wanted the last verse to sound more "orchestral" so the strings were lifted in the mix while the guitar was cut off.

According to the Bob Spitz biography, John doubled his vocals on this tune (as well as many other later songs) because he did not feel that his voice was strong enough. If you listen to the backing vocals carefully, you can clearly hear John's voice doubling, not Paul's, most easily heard begining at 15:49 ("He wear no shoeshine..." through "he got walrus gumboot"..., etc. and verses beyond. However, Paul does contribute characteristically high "woo"s in the far background ( 17:10 )

They knew each other so well, loved each other for a time, wrote sang & played a song by the feel of the song, worked out things among each other so well with high standards....what else can result except the high quality & timelessness of their songs with great melodies and harmonies plus have that simple international meaning of.....love. Without any question, they are the 20th century greatest legends of popular music.

Ringo was a genius at knowing intuitively what drum pattern would serve a song. Listen to his drumming on- Rain A Day in the Life The End Hello Goodbye Etc There are drummers who are technically more advanced but none as good for The Beatles. He was perfect.

Absolutely no comparison to the present day "artists" to what these highly-disciplined individuals achieved at such a young age. When this musical masterpiece was released back on October 6, 1969, their ages were: Ringo Star (28); Paul McCartney (27); John Lennon (29) and George Harrison (26). Stop for a minute and let that sink in.
