Hey mate have you got pics of the pump setup out of water?

Did you have to drill a hole through the center of the bilge pump strainer or will the tube on the bracket force enough water up for the bilge pump to work?

@@moviecityaustralia5046 i think they are referring to the kingpin bearings and the shims/spacers in the housing. Bit late but hope that helps ;)

Hey thanks for posting up this setup. It looks very simple and effective. I'm looking to do the same thing for my boat. Where did you get the part that covers the outlet drain pipe to stop small livies being sucked out with the overflow?

I have a similar set up... and if you are up on a plain the force of the water hitting the pump will fill the tank up with the pump even being turned on...

@jasenix87 hey mate do you have a flow restricter/pressure limiter after the pump? To slow water flow into tank whilst underway, Have heard that having the pickup bracket can force water into the pump pushing through the seals thus reducing its life what you reckn bro?
@Jasinex87
@Jasinex87 5 жыл бұрын
we dont have a restricter at the moment. The flow in matches the drain pretty well at the speeds we travel (40km/h) so we just have a 19mm inlet and a 25mm outlet. It has been on the boat for over 2 years now and the pump still works fine. A replacement pump was only $20 so not the end of the world if it one day dies.

My bait pump is inside the boat, in the transome; just can't see how this tube leads water INTO the boat. I'm sure it works, I'm just not sorting it out
@rossy2998
@rossy2998 5 жыл бұрын
theres a bracket that the bilge pump sits on under the bracket there is a bent tube facing the front of the boat that sits under water which forces water past the pump and up the pipe.
@jimquantic
@jimquantic 5 жыл бұрын
Chris thanks, I got it on, works very well, beats butting a hole in the bottom of the boat. The only down side is that at some speeds, it splashes water into the boat...though it always keeps water from draining out at any speed

I under stand the concept of the actual bilge pump having nothing to do with the video as you are underway and using the scoop pick up but how to you secure the bait pump to that bracket? Hose clamps?

I have the wobble on my GR....some say remove the shimmies from the kingpins. A few videos on here about it and apparently it's solved the problem. Not sure if I want to remove them though for they are fitted for a purpose.
@Jasinex87
@Jasinex87 6 жыл бұрын
Its fine to take the shims out as the king pin bearings wear. Thats the idea of them, they are removed to take out the play in worn bearings and to set the correct pre load. Just remember to take out the top and bottom shim at the same time. If you only take 1 out it can put the axle off center and the oil seals on the axles will start to leak through.

Jasinex87 yeah I think I'm going to do it... I live in the UK and the patrol is a rare truck here. Today I've visited 2 4x4 specialists and told them about the problem,I've also mentioned you guys in Australia take them out and it's good to go. Both have said they believe the issue won't be solved. I asked both of them if they've ever worked on a patrol... Both said No. They only work on disco's etc. Cheers pal 👍

OMG having Laughed and laughed at this Video I must say REALLY? Seriously? This is NORMAL for ANY OFF ROAD VEHICLE The shaking that is happening by the guy in video is MINIMAL & all bushes absorb this as well as tyres & the inertia from momentum and other forces. No sure is given here for the Common GQ/GU shake at 80kms wasted a few minutes but had a good laugh at a wanna be Mechanic (still images with arrows would have been as informative as this vid) but still no solution Nor is it the Cause or Fix for this isssue
