Season 3 trauma goes even deeper than that, Jaden is torn because he knows Yubel coming back is his fault and having lost the one person he related to the most (Jesse) gave him an insane amount of survivors guilt. Then when he decides to go back to rescue him he asks his friends to stay as he doesnt want to risk them too, but they insist in helping him. Then in the Duel monster realm when he finds out duels end with someone dying he becomes overriden by anxiety that Jesse might die. So he starts making reckless decisions while being anxiety driven (raiding the slave camp alone). Then he sees a guy that he mistakes for Jesse die in front of him which triggers his anxiety even more. Which is why when everyone goes to the castle he rushes ahead without noticing his friends were being kidnapped. And then the major trigger is that he not only witnesses his friends be captured and DIE, but blame him and to some degree hate him for everything.

Season 2 went beyond my expectations Especially the mahodaddy fight

Jadens experiences in season 3 are highly skimmed over here. I understand length of time and all, but it also undermines how being IN the other dimension affected him, causing his decisions to be more erratic. Also the factor that yubel had taken jessie to said world and jaden felt responsible hence him desperatly trying to find him, at any cost. Those two things alone factor in jadens decisions and how the king ended up gaining control of him. Let alone the fact that you are wrong about yubel starting said war. This war had already been going on before she got there. No one even knew about her, she was on the sidelines just watching jaden suffer to find jessie, who she was jelouse of and possesing. She knew the kings spirit was incharge of the worlds war, and said spirit was connected to jaden. So him being in the same place as said persona would eventually lead to jaden falling to the spirits influence. Which happened without her needing to even lift a finger. She was originally his protector, so she always knew about his powers as a child and who he was. His parents knew too, hence why his father gave him her card. This is also why they used science to block his powers as a child when yubel became too much for him and was causing him pain and trouble. Yugi woke those powers back up in episode 1. But jadens supreme king spirit was still partially bound to the other world, so we never fully see its interactions in the first two seasons. Plus with his memory block his parents made, he didnt remember yubel or why he was given her. So he was unaware of his powers of darkness and his being a reincarnation of a king from another world. Honestly his parents should have talked to him more about it, seeing as they knew about it. But alas, its yugioh the only adults allowed are teaching figures and villians. Sometimes teaching villians even. But not just to be there to help on the sidelines. Sigh. Anyhow, thank you for supporting jaden. He deserves all the support for how awesome he is. And for being such a great representative of adhd brains. ❤

I personally found the end of endeavor's story to be a little bittersweet. This man unlike most characters in anime sought redemption not because of some karmic ass whupping (though it is interesting that his fight with the high end nomu got him a scar in thr exact same place as his youngest son, that felt like a form of karma), but through his own self reflection and introspection. I originally thought that he'd only get the redemption he sought through death as that might've been the only thing that finally earned him what he wanted. He lived sure, but in a fucked up condition and still keeps hating himself and condemning himself. Even nastuo, the man who still carries a hate boner for his father ( and in a interesting sense of irony hates his dad the most, but carries the fewest physical and psychological scars compared to the rest of his family) thinks its a bit obsessive. Now like you i hated good old fire beard at the start of the story, but ive grown to love him now and i would've liked to see hime finally get the redemption he sp desperately sought, especially considering the series goes more out of its way to humanize other villains who are far more irredeemable compared to what he's done, but i theorize that the reason why fans have such a problem with the character is because it hits so close to home as what endeavor did is far more likely to happen in the real word. But as another commenter pointed out most of the family seemed to be able to forgive him he got three out of five so I'll take that as a win for him.

Couldn't agree more. Habashira's struggle during JPN vs USA final did make me shed a (bit) tear 🥲, reminds us of Unsui & Yukimitsu or any other player with less gifted-physical ability. Season 6 was great. Art was perfectly fine except for a few moments. People need to understand anime cannot constantly adapt the same top tier levels of art that horikoshi makes. Horikoshi is one of if not the best artist in shonen jump.

A panel at a science fiction convention I went to talked about two types of stories. Redemption versus penance. Redemption is a one-and-done you are now redeemed. Penance is an ongoing act towards being better. Whether or not you get there is separate from the path. Which one you like is in part connected to culture. But you can really see the difference between Endeavor vs bakugou. Endeavor realized his mistakes and started taking steps to fix them whether or not he would ever be forgiven for them. Bakugou said I'm sorry and was expected to have everything handed to him. That's why I like Endeavor more than bakugou.

I'm glad to see an Aster video, but I wish you hadn't used the dub since it was quite inaccurate with how it changed details of his backstory and personality. He never insulted Jaden or accused him of ripping off his deck in the original version. The interview with the reporter was just him more or less challenging Jaden to a duel. His father wasn't kidnapped either. D actually murdered him when he broke into their house, and 4kids went as far as to edit out his dead body on the floor that Aster found. So, that was more like his dad's soul or some part of his consciousness that remained that got trapped in destiny hero Plasma. So no, Aster wasn't technically killing him when he won that duel, although it still felt that way to him. ☹️

SMADEN SMUKI HAHA 😂😂😂.

Something that I like about Zane's character arc is that it feels like a twist on the DM character arcs. Kaiba started out like Zane, but eventually got evil and the only thing to snap him out of it was Atem literally mind crushing him with ancient Egyptian magic, destroying the evil in his heart. Same thing with Marek. Zane on the other hand, didn't really become "evil" (at least not to the same extent), he's just changed for the worse. And his change back to good does not come from someone using magic to destroy this new "evil" version, it comes from new experiences and a shift in perspective. In this way GX stands out more from DM. Duel monsters is a lot about sorcery, dark magic and spirits, whereas GX is more grounded (for the most part, I know plenty of supernatural/crazy things occur) where characters who change aren't overtaken by any evil persona that must be destroyed, but rather just from how living their life. And no matter how bad things they still find a way back, both Jaden and Zane. It's very realistic as we too undergo change, for better or worse.

Judai is the reason why I like KENN as much as I do now. The way he can switch between the bright boy and that Supreme King persona oh god.

He's definitely one of my favourite characters

Loved the vid!!! I’m always here for gx support, it gets too much of a bad rep. I’m currently in my 3rd rewatch of Gx and I somehow love it even more than before when I finished it in my early 20s. I’m now in my late 20s and I love the series more than ever before. I vividly remember first seeing Gx air when it came out and Jaden’s first due against crowler blew my mind. It’s the anime that made me want to buy everything that came out. It was my 2nd favorite Yugioh series but now I’m conflicted which one I love more between DM. That being said I’d say it’s the 4th or 5th best of the franchise. However I will definitely say GX has the best character development, and protagonist. It deserves its props for being the first yu-gi-oh anime to actually accurately follow how the card game is actually olayed(as opposed to the nonsense that was in DM).While I don’t believe seasons 1 and 2 are as bad as people make it out to be, the execution regarding various storylines is all over the place. Also since Gx is an anime original the Sub is the original version. The excessive humor dub heavily misrepresented certain themes, characters and straight up removed certain cutscenes that were crucial for certain characters(manjoume, Yubel, Edo, Ryo and especially Chronos). However this due to 4kids censoring the series to be more kid friendly. Also i disagree with repetitive friendship speeches. Yu-Gi-Oh Franchise)at its core has been about friendship and the it’s used to showcase the power of unity(the dub of DM was overkill with saying friendship instead of saying unity) since in tough times unity can save someone. Gx also has friendship theme to itself as well but it’s a bit more subtle(especially in the sub). Anyone love the vid.
