Hello and good morning to you. I’m trying to write up two DC motors one with 12v and the other with 5v. I’ll have one SPST switch for main and SPDT switch the will control my relays. The relays will switch power from one motor to the other. After the relays I need a DPDP switch to control polarity. I want to be able to control the direction of the motors. I’m trying to make this work without the frost switch and I can’t seem to figure it out. Is it possible? Any tips I would really be grateful. Thank you for you time
@mikmaster63Ай бұрын
@@caseymor1358 I’m trying to wrap my head around this. 2 DC motors one 12 and one 5 volt. Curious why the 2 different voltages? You want a SPST switch for main power (to start the whole thing)? SPST to activate a relay to supply power to one of the motors at a time? Then a DPDT switch (I’m assuming on/off/on, so when the switch is turned on one way the motor moves in one direction and when turned on the other way the opposite direction, so not momentary where you would have to hold the switch for the motors to move?) that controls direction of the motors. I think this would need one for each motor because of the 2 different voltages? I’m not sure what frost switch you are referring to? I would like to try and help but I need more detail than the average dude…

I know how i want it to work but im a carpenter and a nurse not an electrical engineer. Figured there was a end stop switch with reverse polarity i could use. Been searching the www not knowing how to get my idea to work until i found this . Thanks 👍 ill probably be adding a couple hundred views to your videos over the next week trying to figure this out.

How could you use this for negative switch highbeam, driving light and led rocker switch? I can wire up 3 prong led to get led light and lightbar on. But thats not legal. I have it legal now, lightbar can only be switched on when highbeam is on... BUT i cant get led light on rocker to light when highbeam AND lightbar are activated. Basically, even when highbeam is off, switch still gets positive, so rocker light goes on. Can you do the two switch method (one hidden), to get the MAIN (in cabin) switch to get rocker led to light up, when lightbar AND highbeam is on? Cheers
@mikmaster63Ай бұрын
@@w0lfm4n43 my first thought is to use a relay when the highbeams are on I would connect that signal to one side of the coil of a relay that would change the state of the relay and then I would use the contacts to send Power to the switch that would then Power the light bar and I’m assuming the LED is built into the switch. And if you have a switch, that’s not rated high enough to turn on the light bar then you would use another relay to do that.

That Sperry, along with APC surge arresters that have a similar bad-ground detection circuit, was probably wrong because their bad ground detection circuits don’t match the values set forth in the National Electrical Code. I missed my chance to set up a Red Cross Disaster Services Technology team headquarters in the former office of Eddie DeBartolo Jr.’s office at the 49’rs training base in Redwood City, CA, because I trusted the “bad ground” red light on an APC power strip instead of asking for a multimeter, a hundred feet of copper wire, and a big-ass alligator clip. This was an epic fail because DeBartolo’s office had a full wet bar, a bathroom, a window onto the field, and only one door for people to enter the office.

Mine is white. It has fan, cool, furnace LEDs only. Plus and minus buttons. On/off mode. Fan runs constantly with a/c. Furnace exhaust outside blows hot air. Inside not hot. Doing something wrong on furnace?
@mikmaster636 ай бұрын
Watch starting at :26 seconds. I explain why the AC fan is coming on while the furnace is running. Turn fan mode to auto to stop the AC fan. If the AC fan is running while the furnace is on warm/hot air does not come out of the AC ducts. It just pushing air around the coach. The furnace air only comes from the furnace ducts which are usually in the floor or down low. I recommend that users only set the fan to auto so they don’t get confused.

Hi Mik Master I am working on wiring in a motor into my car in the exact same way you have. The motor controls a small valve which opens and closes my exhaust. I purchased a genuine switch that fits in my car perfectly. It is a momentary switch which rocks upwards and downwards and then returns to centre. However it only has 2 connectors and not three connectors how you have demonstrated. Is there any way at all to make this work? (I apologise if this is a silly question, I am a novice when it comes to these things. Just doing projects to learn). Thanks

I never assume how a switch works. Most of them work how I expect but I always check them with a meter. Do you know the actual details of the switch? In this video you need to be able to apply power to one of the relays at a time. I’m not sure off the top of my head how you could do it with only one output signal from a switch…

The parts video has the parts I used. The next video coming out on Sunday is a video where I bench test some tool batteries. I did not test them on slide outs. It would probably work on in wall or small draw slide outs. Personally I would not use tool batteries for that purpose, there are other options that I use.

@@mikmaster63 Thank you. I have this problem with my kayak's trolling motor that uses 6-pin rocker switch for doing reverse polarity on-off-on. The problem is that this switch is rated 30 amps, but eventually it fails (melts) every few months in the middle of the sea. the motor is "only" 12v DC 20A (max). No matter how many different switches brands I have tried, they all fail eventually. some on the handle, some melts from the inside, nothing lasts. Also, there aren't many high AMPS 6 pin switches. they all range 20-30 amps and they all fail. I think this solution will solve the problem. Thank you!
@mikmaster637 ай бұрын
It’s sounds to me that there is another issue. Most of the relays I use are rated at 30 amps also. Check what amp draw the motor is actually drawing. It could be loose connections or a bad motor. Also, try a marine type switch (something water proof) maybe the moisture is corroding the switch…

@@mikmaster63 When its 95 degrees Fahrenheit outside with intense usage of few hours twice a week, the plastic parts of those switches get distorted. It happens every 5 months in average. Tried some metal switches they also falied with some plastic pin inside. With a relay THERE IS NO PLASTIC INSIDE. The switching is done with metals alone.
