Aww man, myself growing in the 80s was something special about Today's Special, only Nickelodeon was the channel to watch this and my mother and I would sing the theme song 😁 Never knew the woman who played Jodie passed away earlier this year she was the one who wore that pink and red outfit. RIP Jodie

I was the youngest of 4 born in '86 so i watched reruns or taped reruns my parents would put on, not sure but i have fond memories of this show. Years later around 2004 or 5 my eldest brother who watched the show commuted to Toronto on the Via train and he recognized Nerene straight away. He went up introduced himself and it turns out we live in the same town (Ancaster) so for years they would carpool to the train station and she would come over to our house for dinner sometimes. Her son was also my age and we played soccer together and didn't even know it. What a small world, wonderful memories of this show and Nerene Virgin, may she rest in peace.

I'm 47. This theme song popped into my head this morning while I was in the shower and found myself singing it. Remembered all the words and everything! Before just now I hadn't heard it a good 40 years.

This is the first show I remember as a kid. I was like maybe 6 when it stopped airing.

OMG, I remember this!! I wasn't alive during its initial run (I was born the year it ended, 1987), but I grew up with the reruns in the early to mid 90's!! Me and my siblings would watch this all of the time!! (That intro unlocked a LOT of memories for me, haha!!)

The current social climate always takes me back to watching stuff like Todays Special. I just dont recall any drama around this show at the time. If this show came out today, a loud vocal minority would complain, gripe and label Todays Special woke. Smh. 🙏 hoping society heals. We've come too far to fall apart now.

Wow, I had completely forgotten about this show. I absolutely watched it every so often as a little kid in the 80’s. It was a little odd in retrospect, but good clean kids programming.

I always expect to find a confused and sad Jeff wandering around in the abandoned stores I visit.

All these years later I just now got the wordplay in the title. I always just thought of it as Today's Special like a sale in a store, but it's also Today's Special, as in Today is Special. What a sweet little show this was.

My sister and i would watch this every mourning it was a treat to get cable to watch Nickelodeon during this time .im 44 now and 6 year old me still remembers this

My youth. To be there again....

When I was really young Doctor Who would come on afterwards, I was scared of that show even the theme freaked me out, I had to immediately turn it off or switch to another channel. One evening I couldn't find the tv remote afterwards and I started watching Doctor Who, been a fan ever since that night.

Actually, I just found out yesterday (February 5th) that Nerene Virgin passed away in January at the age of 77. RIP Jodie.

As someone who grew up watching Today’s Special I was saddened to hear about Nerene Virgin’s death. 😢.
