What happened to looking presentable with uniforms/warm ups.... these kids look like trash & PJs aren't a warmup "BRUHs"

Brother rice, Davis is going 138. Davis beat Jacob Alvarez, John Greifelt, Max Rosen, and George Marinopoulos. He's starting to wrestle with confidence.

That’s it. I’m buying Big Jim a multi screen set up. I will coach him through the process of having multiple trackwrestling windows open at once…..

15:40 Waughtel is definitely a hammer. Roberts put him to his back twice and still couldn’t score.

14:40 the PIT tournament has outgrown the building by a long shot. There’s nowhere to sit and not enough space for the mats.

It reminds me of the Ironman. Shoulder to shoulder with mats up to the bleachers. Crazy cool environment for short periods of time lol!
@andrewwittmer915012 күн бұрын
@ we spent all day in the cafeteria and then wandered out and watched from the doorway or balcony when our kids were wrestling. It’s a great tournament for prestige, not so much for a spectator.

23:22 Kaden Roberts is underrated at 126, and lost a close match to Waughtel at 126 last year. He’s a returning blood rounder at 126. I think he has one loss up a weight so far this year.

It was interesting, listening to your guys conversation about who should or shouldn’t be in the Iowa lineup. And some of your thoughts n views of why. And all your views of the holiday dead time. 🤔👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

They were tough back then, get a kid on their back and crowd section would go into a HAWKS chant, stomping the bleachers.

NHS beat Mahomet Seymour in the state finals in 1985. It was Newman's first state trophy in any sport. In 1988, NHS was set to face Mahomet Seymour in the state finals again, but fell short in the semis against a really well coached Harvard team.

Great conversation. Hononegah was the best at building confidence for athletes, especially at the JV level. I wonder how many first year wrestlers who started as freshman became state qualifiers or placers. I would bet that Hononegah would lead the NIC 10 and the region with that achievement.

The disrespect for Keegan O’Toole is wild. He’s the defending two time champ at this weight class and y’all talked about Dean, Mitch, and Carr.

Grant Miller #1 Heavy! He was equally great at freestyle/greco & probably won multiple national titles as a youth but didn’t focus on it as much in HS. That was always the knock on him about being ranked #1 as. At was he didn’t travel to compete off season. That was his choice but lucky for the others he didn’t because he’d toasted them

The Hawks threw together the Soldier Salute when Northwestern announced in 2021 that they were cancelling Midlands for a second consecutive year due to COVID. The announcement came on December 22, when the tournament was scheduled for December 29th. Izzy and Willie threw together the Illinois Matmen Open in less than a week and Iowa threw together then Soldier Salute. Iowa said that year that they were going to make that an annual tournament and that they would not be back to the Midlands. Midlands had been going downhill for a number of years prior to COVID, but it was still always competitive with Iowa, Penn, Princeton, Wisconsin, Northwestern. And, while the NOW arena is a nice venue, Midlands did much better when it was at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The move to Hoffman Estates was originally supposed to be temporary while Welsh-Ryan was being renovated. But, with the new seating configuration at Welsh-Ryan, the venue could not accommodate more than 6 mats. Moving to the NOW Arena resulted in ticket pricing and parking prices to more than double. The crowds at the NOW Arena, especially on day 2, couldn't compare to what they used to draw in Evanston. This is only the second year since 1988 that I having attended Midlands, but it was an easy decision to make. The competition was as weak as I have ever seen it.....perfect reason to catch the few good matches on BTN+ and forget the rest. Nice job on the podcast guys. I enjoy listening.

Brandon isn’t just starting a wrestling program. He’s changing kids lives. My son is on the team and I’ve never seen him love something so much. Unfortunately it’s his senior year but he’s already talking about how he can keep wrestling after he graduates. Thank you Brandon for bringing wrestling to Hattiesburg
